Alright alright. I know you’re waiting for the hike pictures and such. But this first, the reason I am here.

Oh where to start. Being a coach is probably one of the coolest and most rewarding things I’ve ever done. Where this job has taken me, not only in terms of place in the world, but as a person cannot be properly expressed. Glenn Pendlay and Don McCauley use to tell me all the time that as a coach, the minute I thought I had everything figured out I probably need to go find a new job because I’m not doing anyone any good anymore. With that being said, I learned a lot from this trip and am already working on what went well, what can be improved, and how to evolve to better serve the lifters I get to work with.

But here we are in Athens, Greece thanks to these 6 ladies. When I injured myself I walked into the doctor’s office and said this surgery is either happening in one week, or it’s happening in four because I had a job to do and wasn’t missing Worlds.

This meet had its ups and its downs. But I continue to be humbled that these athletes in particular call me coach and let me be a part of their journey. I will continue to show up each and every day for my lifters in the same way they showed up this weekend and I’m damn proud of not only the athletes we have on this team but the quality of human they are as well.

Michelle, Eunice, Loretta, Anjie, Tracy, and Erica, thank you so much for representing Team SAW on the international stage and making me look as good as you do, seriously, you guys are rockstars. Thank you especially to Michelle (and Jess) for helping me in the back with weights and cards since I was down an arm to boot. That would’ve been a mess and my PT would’ve killed me had it not been for you two.

You ladies enjoy the rest you rightfully deserve after this meet and when you’re ready to go, you know I’ve got a plan waiting for you. Safe travels home.

Best job ever and man do I love what I do. 💙💛

2026 Florida State Weightlifting competition DONE ✅ (i hate competing). But it was nice Daisy was there to help. Sucks i was the ONLY men’s 40-44 75k category, but i have no control over that. I did okay, not my BEST but I’m happy i showed up and did decently. Thanks to RISE weightlifting out of Orlando who helped count for me. That was a huge help! And they helped with Daisy while i was lifting. Huge thank you! 🙏🏽

A few weekends back we had our ladies compete at the Elite Masters Invitational and they had themselves a day.

This is a unique competition because it was scored using Q Points, a coefficient that considers age, bodyweight, and weight lifted, giving you comparable scores across groups.

In the Women’s 55-59 age group, we had three ladies competing.

Loretta Scott went 6/6 in her first meet back since Worlds in Vegas last year, hitting 48/106 lbs on the snatch and 66/146 lbs on the clean and jerk. This effort was good enough for 8th overall in the age group!

Tracy Harris went 5/6 on the day, finishing with a 51/112 lbs on the snatch and 74/163 lbs on the clean and jerk. The clean and jerk is a comp best, improving her total from Little Rock. She placed 5th overall in her age group.

Michelle Picking went 5/6 on the day. She snatched 62/137 lbs and clean and jerked 75/165 lbs. These efforts won her 1st overall in the age group and placed her 2nd overall out of all the age groups in the entire meet.

On Day 2, we had Erica Treadway competing in the women’s 45-49 division. She put together her second 6/6 performance of the year, hitting 51/112 lbs on the Snatch and 66/146 lbs on the Clean and Jerk. This effort placed her 4th overall in the age group.

It was a great day on the platform, but now it’s full steam ahead for Greece and the Masters World Championships with the rest of our crew.

Another weekend in another city not home means another meet with my team. This time it was down to Savannah, GA for the Masters Elite Invitational. Now, this is a cool concept that I think is sorely needed in the sport. Just something to change up the mundane weightlifting meets we go to where you are competing against the same handful of folks.

This meet invited the top 100 masters in the nation based off of their coefficient formula regardless of age and weight class. Once the field was selected they then did sessions by age group and the lifters duked it over for top spot. It was pretty awesome to see up 5-6 weight classes going head to head in one session. The best of the best in masters for the last few years doing their thing.

Team SAW was fortunate enough to have 6 athletes invited to this with 4 accepting invitations. Tracy, Michelle, and Loretta competed on Friday and finished 8th, 6th, and 1st overall respectively, while Erica went on Saturday and finished 4th overall.

I am constantly amazed by the athletes I get to work with on a daily basis and beyond proud of them and their continued focus on getting better each day in this sport. Love you guys.

And special thanks to @moore_aleigh8 for helping me in the back during the first day making sure the three ladies stayed on time with the warm ups. You’re seriously the best.

But it’s back to Chicago for a long while and no travel until September and Masters Worlds in Greece. A special shout out to the organizers of this meet and the concept as a whole. The athletes were buzzing about this one all weekend and I think I’m going to try and do something similar next year for the Chicago area masters.

And that’s a wrap from Savannah Georgia.

We had four lifters compete in the Elite Masters Invitational. The ladies made 32 out of 36 total lifts. We had two 6/6 days on the platform and 3 best totals for the year so far.

Loretta Scott in her first meet back since Worlds last September went 6/6 and finished 8th in the women’s 55-59 age group.

Tracy Harris matched her comp PR Clean and Jerk and improved her total from Nationals to finish 6th in the women’s 55-59 age group.

Michelle Picking hit a comp best Snatch for the year and finished 1st overall in the women’s 55-59 age group.

Erica Treadway also went 6/6 with her best total on the year to finish 4th in the women’s 45-49 age group.

Next stop for the ladies and the rest of our masters will be the World Championships in Greece. See you there!

With the Masters Invitational next on the calendar for Michelle, we are hammering heavier lifts from the hang and power position. Things are moving in the right direction as she hits this 75/165 lb Clean from the power position mid-week. Brick by brick, as we lay a solid foundation for the Masters Worlds later this year.
