Join us for the first iteration of our Material Cultures workshop and lecture series, Reclamation Praxis on Sunday, October 25th from 1-4 PM @thedigschicago. This event brings together artist-educators Naomi Coke and AJ McClennon for a conversation on wild clay, sustainable artmaking, and the cultural histories held within the materials we gather and create with. The conversation facilitated by @samiahfulcher will be shortly followed by a hands-on wild clay processing demonstration led by Naomi. Materials provided. No prior experience necessary. Naomi Coke: @fearofablackfemme is an oral historian, community design practitioner, and land artist whose practice draws on Jamaican Maroon lineages, material reclamation, and intergenerational land healing. With a background in regenerative building practices and archival research, Naomi’s work focuses on place-based approaches to repair, relation building, and Black-Indigenous futurity. AJ McClenon: @middlenamejanae is an assistant professor at SAIC and active multidisciplinary artist in Chicago by way of Washington, D.C. whose work brings personal narrative into conversation with empirical data to explore sociopolitical concepts of truth, cultural amnesia, and their absurdities. $10-20 sliding scale suggested donation. 100% of donations go directly to our featured artists for sharing their time and expertise. Priority for BIPOC artists, educators, and community members. Spaces are limited. RSVP link in bio.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Eaton House for the closing celebration of I’ll meet you there last week. 🍾🎞️🚛 Over the past several months, we’ve had the opportunity to come together through art, conversation, and shared experiences, reflecting on the work of Stephanie J. Williams, Jermaine “jET” Carter, Edgar Reyes, and A.J. McClenon. Presented by Hamiltonian Artists and The Nicholson Project, this exhibition invited us to consider the spaces we inhabit and the ways familiarity can shift, challenge, and reveal new perspectives. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this journey possible and to all who joined us along the way. Thank you for being part of it! #MeetYouThereDC #HamiltonianArtists #NicholsonProject #DCArts #PublicArt Photos by @thenicholsonproject

EN BADS_lab's time at the Land School in Chicago asked both little and a lot of its participants. I arrived in São Paulo with an assemblage of objects: seeds in themselves of the processes of those who made them, and seeds of the experiments that took place in the lab. They are traces of what was asked of the participants and of their responses to prompts and exercises. As I placed the pieces in @sala24demaio, throughlines emerged, subtle and profound, that I hope will take root. I look forward to talking through them tomorrow. --- Nas imagens acima, trabalhos de: @middlenamejanae @carissa_explains_most @jess_atieno @nimrodastarhan @samiahfulcher @isaiahwrd @roypalace @jenniferligaya

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.” — Rumi, A Great Wagon Join us for the Closing Celebration of I’ll Meet You There at Eaton House! The exhibition title draws from this line by the 13th-century poet Rumi, translated by Coleman Barks—a verse that gestures toward a space of encounter beyond binaries and certainty, rooted instead in openness, connection, and shared humanity. That spirit has animated this public art project and the conversations it has sparked. ✨ Closing Celebration at Eaton House Thursday, September 24, 2026 5:30–7:30 PM Come experience the exhibition one last time and celebrate the artists and ideas that have brought us together. A SPACE Within a Space within a space MAYFIELD 505 Marengo Ave, Forest Park, IL October 4-December, 6, 2026 Opening Reception: Sunday, October 4, 2026, 2-6PM Mayfield is housed directly above and also comprised of a four car garage. The garage will host Tacoma Sculpture Park, an art space run by Sculpturelandia, organized by Olivia and Remy. Tacoma Sculpture Park is a miniature sculpture park situated on the bed of their Toyota Tacoma, including artists: Larsa Kena, Oli Watt, Hazel Vernon, Sebastian Bruno Harris, Gabriel Chalfin Piney Gonzalez and Gina Hunt The upper level of Mayfield is an artist studio, once home to a woodshop, a gallery, once home to a gym, and a printshop/recording studio, once home to a business office. In the former office space, Mayfield will host an exhibition curated by Anvika Khaitan titled Quasi: Acts of Looking with artists Jaeyeon Kim and Sarah James Roman. The gallery, housed in the former gym equipped with a hot tub, on the north end of Mayfield, will host the namesake exhibition. Playing on infinite Russian nesting dolls, places between places, and the uncanny, the exhibition reflects on liminality, a feeling only accentuated by an empty home gym. Artists include: A.J.McClenon, Sam Frequez, Claire Burke Dain, Tallulah Cartalucca, Jooeun Kim, Larsa Kena, Leonardo Gabriel do Amaral, and Sculpturelandia (Olivia and Remy) The exhibition will also serve as an inauguration for a bonus space within the gallery, Botiquín, the medicine cabinet in the bathroom, with work by Hugo Amarales. by appointment only mayfieldartspace@gmail.com @mayfieldartspace Image caption: Sam Frésquez Virginia Echoes 2025 Collage

POWER PLAY, a new essay for @family_style ft. a photo of my grandpa during the Korean War Last October, we (@isabelflower @turrelljames @deemjournal @performance.space.new.york) organized the SXXTXCH Symposium — and from this came a beautiful performance by @cleogirl2525 @ajmcclenon. I couldn’t stop thinking about it, so I used it as a jumping off point for a new essay in Family Style’s latest issue “Man vs. Machine”. Edited by @rachelsummerssssmall and @mekachu <3

CORRECTION: Change of venue. The “I’ll Meet You There” video truck is making its final stop at @kreegermuseum this Saturday! 🚚🎥 On August 15 from 1:00–3:00 PM, stop by to catch A.J. McClenon’s short film Vega Travel Run Five Hundred and Ninety Eight to Three Hundred and Fifty Six. Then, stay awhile to explore The Kreeger Museum’s permanent collection. In this short film, A.J.’s alter ego, Vega, travels through cityscapes, landscapes, water, and wind to help imprisoned people escape the Universal Location Project (URP), a government program that forces people into wormholes to find better Earth-like planets parallel to our own. To find a major loophole, Vega must travel to Trenton, South Carolina, to find their first-known, documented enslaved ancestor, Milledge Outsz, and gather a route map for escape. August 15 is the final day to experience I’ll Meet You There, don’t miss out! Share your truck sightings with us #Meetyoutheredc #thenicholsonproject #HamiltonianArtists Supported by @thedcarts and @bloombergconnects #artisttalks #dcarts
