What would your version of a cozy, whimsical day look like? 🤎

This is the first part of my series in Lesson in Whimsy, where we strive to add a bit of whimsy to our lives! It’s always fun to want to have more whimsy but for those of us who hobby cycle through different things, it can get overwhelming

And so this is my cozy edition of it, a few things you can do over a day/week if you’re feeling like you’re in a cozier mood, which is perfect for the -ber months and autumn season as these are autumn activities!🍂🍄‍🟫

Lesson 1 is in setting your atmosphere, especially if like me, you live in the city and have to work for that cottagecore feeling in your own home as you dream of owning your own cottage (one day)! I love my candles from Midsummer Child and the Everlasting Autumn is perfect for this! It has a hint of cinnamon and mainly has cedarwood with frankincense😍

I’ve just restocked up for this autumn after using my current candles for the last 2 years and yes I do use autumnal candles all year long😂🤎 super excited to try out the new scents when they arrive!

Lesson 2 is picking up Autumnal books and Romance Autumnal books are perfect for this! I read There’s pumpkin about you by Athena Carstairs last year and it was so fun with that small town vibes in it too

There are so many different different cozy options for autumn, from witchy books and cozy books set in autumn! Here are a few I’d recommend that are cozy fantasy & romance:
🍄‍🟫 Best Hex Ever by Nadia El-Fassi
🍄‍🟫 House of Frank by Kay Synclaire
🍄‍🟫 The Inn at the Foot of Mount Vengeance by Chiara Bullen
🍄‍🟫 The Harvest Moon Cafe by Farah Halliwell
🍄‍🟫 If it makes you Happy by Julie Olivia

Lesson 3 is picking up a cozy games, and for me, nothing can beat Wylde Flowers, one of my favourite and repeated witchy farming game! I can’t wait for Wylde society to come out soon 🥰

Have you ever played Wylde Flowers? Let me know👀🤎

Lesson 4 is a colouring book! We cant ignore colouring on a cozy day and it’s the hobby I pick up when I want to watch a movie or a tv show and colour at the same time. I’ve tried a few books and I enjoy alternating between those that are super detaile

My fall hopefuls 🍁📚

My TBR is literally never ending, and is subject to change at the drop of a hat (such is the curse of the mood reader). But since it’s finally September, here are a few of my biggest hopefuls for this fall! 🎃

What’s on your autumnal TBR list?

Also shout out to @midsummerchild for the fabulous bookish fall candles 🕯️ (note that I only ever tag small businesses/makers that I have personally supported)

📖 Books shown:
Slewfoot by Brom
Grim Tidings by B.K. Borison
Cemetery Boys by Aiden Thomas
People Watching by Hannah Bonam-Young
Never Whistle at Night (an anthology)

Book Haul

💬 What’s the last book you bought?

I had two bookstore trips in the past few days. On Friday I went to Waterstones and Daunt Books, picking up The Knave and the Moon and Chloë Ashby’s new novel, as well as some poetry.

Today, I met up with my lovely friend to go to the farmer’s market and we stopped in our local bookstore where I got a couple more poetry books! She also gave me this beautiful belated birthday gift: The Last Unicorn from The Folio Society.

I also had to share a picture of the lovely candles I got from @midsummerchild yesterday which I will be huffing for the rest of autumn like a FIEND

Summer Witch Book Recs

💬 What’s your favourite summer witchy book? Or, have you read and enjoyed any of these?

A lot of us associate witches with autumn, but given their connection to the seasons and plants/flowers, I thought it would be nice to drop some summer witch book recs. My top recommendation from this list is definitely Blood Bound (because how could it not be?) but I enjoyed all of them! I hope you do too x

“Eli drew his fingers through a ring of water on the table. “I don’t want to be forgotten.” He said it so softly he worried Victor wouldn’t hear, not over the chatter of the bar, but he clamped his hand down on Eli’s shoulder. For a moment he looked so serious, but then he let go and slumped back in his seat. “Tell you what,” said Victor. “You remember me, and I’ll remember you, and that way we won’t be forgotten.” “That’s shit logic, Vic.” “It’s perfect.” “And what happens when we’re dead?” “We won’t die, then.” “You make cheating death sound so simple.” “We do seem awfully good at it,” said Victor cheerfully. He lifted his glass. “To never dying.” Eli lifted his. “To being remembered.” Their glasses clinked as Eli added, “Forever.”⁣

I LOVE @veschwab’s Villains Series with all my heart ♥️ It’s my favourite of all of V’s books! 🥹 The way that it was written is so unique! How I would describe it was as if you had both hands moving closer to each other on opposite ends, on a tempo, until they met at the very end. The build up to that moment was so good 🥹😭⁣
⁣
I was thrilled when @Illumicrate included a @rosiethorns88 Villains: In the mayhem papercraft kit in their June box 😍 It looks perfect beside my @Illumicrate Vicious & Vengeful set (@titanbooks)and I cannot wait to see how their edition Victorious will match 👀♥️⁣
