Offbeat Promotions Presents mountain peaks, Midweek, and Buggery Act for Smokehouse 10! We first met Kieran, the face behind @offbeatpromouk , on our @tuneupipswich programme and has since gone on to set up his own events company, so we’re especially excited to welcome him back to The Smokehouse for our 10-year celebrations! @mountain.peaks.band are a three piece emo / post-hardcore trio based in Norwich. Known for their strong stage presence, intense dual vocals and melodic, hard-hitting songs. They integrate a variety of styles, from midwest emo style twinkly guitars to skramz vocals and elements. Influences include the likes of algae bloom and Suis La Lune, alongside Touche Amore and La Dispute. Mountain peaks have been making a name for themselves throughout the country with their strong work ethic and drive, which has gained them shows in 14 different cities and towns in 2025 alone. Named for the 1533 statute that once criminalised their very existence, @buggery_act reclaims history through a sonic assault of high-tension noise rock. Built on the friction between law and liberation, the predominantly LGBTQ+ quartet weaponises a massive, triple-string frontline to create a sound that is as clinical as it is feral. Buggery Act are built on a foundation of punishing rhythmic precision and discordant grit. They capture the surgical, metallic snap of Shellac, the erratic, predatory swing of The Jesus Lizard, and the suffocating, Midwestern dread of Chat Pile. @midweek.band are a trio originating from the heart of Colchester - a group dedicated to perfecting the new generation of emo, blending the influence of everything that came before and the inspiration of a new unfound energy. Midweek is the outlet of all the untold stories between the band that can only be expressed through music in the lens of melodic riffs - hard and heavy choruses paired with the whiplash of clean vocals to screamo. It’s comparable to 90s bands such as Jejune, Strictly Ballroom and the more modern groups such as The Trigger Quintet and First Day Back. Similar to New York's finest indie rockers, we met at school in Lincoln (Lincoln, U.K., not Nebraska, U.S.) in the mid 90's. After writing and performing in various bands over the last 25 years and spending the best part of those decades looking and sounding like The Strokes, in the summer of 2023 we had a lightbulb moment and New York City Cops was born. We're not going to give ourselves one of those made-up taglines ('The UK's BEST Strokes Tribute!', 'The UK's PREMIER Strokes Tribute!', 'The UK's ONLY unicycle-riding, fire-breathing Strokes Tribute!') but, if we did, we'd talk about our authenticity and attention-to-detail: from period-correct guitars and pedals to playing every song note-for-note, with the same energy that The Strokes give them. We've even had some of their vintage tees custom-made for the eagle-eyed Strokers out there (we know who you are). And if that doesn't whet your whistle, we're also the ONLY Strokes tribute band in the world to have recorded songs from The Strokes' first album with their producer, Gordon Raphael. In fact, only two bands in existence have recorded the songs Last Nite and Som
