Well I’m caught here still in my dressing gown on a bright Saturday morning in late September. I know it doesn’t matter because this old man is amongst friends. I thought I’d quickly respond to all the messages I’ve been getting about the film that some of you have heard is being made about myself and Kev Crane (the singing plumber) @kevcraneofficial out in Hollywood. Well yes I can confirm that the film project is in motion and being propelled along by the great Stacy Sherman and Billy Ray (Hunger Games, Captain Philips and more) over in LA. The script is complete and by two legendary British scriptwriters, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais who of course co-wrote The Commitments (one of the greatest music films ever made), Porridge, Auf Wiedersehen Pet and The Bank Job (Jason Statham) along with many more. I can’t tell you who will play Kev and myself because we don’t know although of course names are thrown around. Kev is heading out to LA again really soon and I’m sure he’ll return with more news and more stories too!

The song playing is the Little Onion @little___onion mix of Dreaming by Kev Crane @kevcraneofficial on New Reality Records @new_reality_records

What arrives before it has a name? Bring a sound-making object, an instrument to use the ‘wrong’ way, or words to speak into the room. Sound Assembly, Wednesday 30 September, 6pm, Braunstone Gate Arches, Bede Street. #RadioLear #SoundAssembly

I’m just about to get ready and set off to Sound Assembly at the wonderful art space that artist Traci Howard @traci_howard has built in one of the disused railway arches under the old railway line by Braunstone Gate in Leicester. It’s organised by Rob Watson @robwmedia of and for Radio LEAR @radiolearuk - I’m really looking forward to hearing what the space has to say to us tonight. Yes, places and spaces can talk to us. Loughbohemia (some call it Loughborough) based artist Miffy Ryan @miffyryan will most likely be there too along with anonymous and maybe you too! If not this then the next time. The beautiful music you can hear behind my ugly voice is ‘Blossom’ by May Chi @maychiwong another Loughborough based artist who you should go check out on your favourite place to listen to music. #soundassembly #soundart #leicester #psychogeography

We gather in the railway arch. Under the old train track. By the water. In the urban. We are brought to this space, The Archway, lovingly curated by artist activist Traci Howard @traci_howard by Rob Watson @robwmedia of the fabulous experimental radio station Radio LEAR @radiolearuk broadcasting to Leicester and Loughbohemia (some call it Loughborough) and surrounds to listen to the building and respond how ever we feel. This will become a ‘show’ a sound recording in one form or another to be set off into the ether by Radio Lear. Are you ready world? Dr Miffy Ryan @miffyryan is here and anonymous (you know who you are) who documents so much that Miffy and others are involved with. Little Onion @little___onion is mooching too. Listen out for the results.

Can a space speak to us? First we listen. Then we interact sonically with the very fabric of the building, the structure. The Archway on Bede Street, Leicester. A space lovingly curated by artist Traci Howard @traci_howard . A vision for intervention from Rob @robwmedia of Radio LEAR @radiolearuk . Participants including Paul Conneally @paul_conneally and Miffy Ryan @miffyryan Look out for the finished piece at Radio Lear @radiolearuk

What is a radio before anybody speaks? A receiver. A transmitter. A room. A pause. An arrangement of accidental signals. Open the Room becomes a Radio Lear programme—but first it has to happen. Book: https://luma.com/ql59k0eb
