When my supply run goes wrong and we forgot to buy PEPPER! but I just happened to see my dad on the horizon and was able to get ahold of him just in time for us to organise him giving us some pepper to grab as we sailed past. This was such an iconic moment 😂

Telling my Dad and Brother that I’m pregnant the same day we found out was an incredibly special, tender and beautiful experience 🥹
They were already coming over to celebrate my Dad’s birthday and we thought what better surprise to share than this! 💕

Something I’m truly grateful for is having a relationship with my father where we both get to do what we love and still spend quality time with each other.

My dad said something beautiful to me the other day, and it has stayed with me since.

He called me brother.

It felt like a monumental moment for our karmic stories this lifetime. And in that very moment I felt truly seen and acknowledged by him as equal.

I don’t think he realised the weight of his words.

So I want to say thank you brother and father for bringing me into this world and walking your path so courageously that it has rippled out and inspired me in so many ways.

As a fellow sailor
As a fellow ocean advocate
As a fellow filmmaker
As a fellow storyteller
As a fellow brother for life
And as my father

I want to say thank you.

Thank you for the endless afternoons chasing waves, countless horizons crossed in the deep sea, moments of piercingly honest conversations and endless encouragement to follow love and my excitement.

I’ll forever know that I couldn’t have a more miraculous dad.

Today I woke to a call from my dad telling me he found a stranded humpback whale on a sandbank and he needs my help to keep it alive until the next high tide comes in and we can free the whale back to deep water.

I dropped everything and started sailing over as fast as I could. I was 3hrs away… But I couldn’t get there in time. The whale had already been on the sandbank for one succession of low tide. Its lungs had collapsed and it was struggling to breathe. It wasn’t until my dad made his way to the scene for the first time that the whale took its last breath and opened its eye for the last time to see my dad and his partner holding the space for this beautiful beings transition into the next realm.

What a wild moment to bear witness too. And also for the whale. To feel the love and care from humanity representing itself as my dad and partner. Holding him through the transition from life to death.

Something I wish I could have been there to hold also but I was tuning in from afar.

Something that feels really true in this deep moment of reflection is this beautiful quote

“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.”
