And our second funding recipient of 2026 is 🥁… ‘Otter’ dir. by @tovaperson !

The 2D animated short film Otter follows two taxidermied otters who are reflecting about their past, when a conflicting nostalgia is awoken through a shared surrealist memory.

“Dir/Prod Swedish-Bristol based duo Tova Persson and Grace Harris, both have a series of animated projects on their CV having worked for British studios like Sun & Moon, Rumpus, and A Productions. Tova’s directorial debut Offerlamm has been a festival hit being shown internationally and won multiple awards and Grace has over 4 years of production experience in the world of British Animation.”

“As Otter is in early pre-production, receiving the Are You Seeing This ‘Cherry on Top’ fund is a great asset to catalyze our project to a start. Using the funding we will bring on a small team of animators to assist in bringing our film to life by providing pay for our hardworking team and to add some extra pizazz to our animated shots!”

They’re excited to bring ‘Otter’ to life, and we can’t wait to see - keep ya posted 🦦

Winners Face-off: Round 01 out of 06 of our Halloween Draw Off Spooktacular! 👻🎃😱

Now that the winners have been announced, we're putting them head-to-head as we get closer to the grand finale. And so, we still ask the following question: Which horror villain do you think will win in a final battle? 👀

"That's Not Gerald" by @mightbegracie

Villain information:
"Scary - It looks just like your friend Gerald (it's not)
Strength - Gerald's axe (it's not HIS)
Weakness - 2000s Europop (Gerald LOVED Europop)"

OR

"Adorable critters dressed in a terribly scary cloak" by @luzie_animation

Villain information:
"My horror villain(s) submission is a pile of adorable critters dressed in a terribly scary cloak. Their very obvious strength is balance (physical not mental) and their weakness are stairs or any obstacles in a path."

Round 01 out of 12 begins of our Halloween Draw Off Spooktacular! 👻🎃😱

The theme of this competition is: Which horror villain do you think will win in a final battle?" 👀

Our first contenders are:

"That's Not Gerald" by @mightbegracie

Villain information:
"Scary - It looks just like your friend Gerald (it's not)
Strength - Gerald's axe (it's not HIS)
Weakness - 2000s Europop (Gerald LOVED Europop)"

Followed by Paper Nicky by @johnvarvir

Villain information:
"He's razor sharp to the touch or if he touches you, he is super flexible an can slink through any cracks, and when he turns sideways he's nearly invisible. His weakness is a large amount or area made of sand. It's incredibly hard for him to move through and dulls his sharp edges. So if he's after you, have fun hiding out in the dunes!"

If you’re a student, new to Bristol or just want to have a one-on-one with an industry expert, be sure to come along to the latest edition of BAM at King Street Brew House on September 25th from 7:00pm! The first of our industry professionals joining us for one-to-one slots is our very own @mightbegracie.

Grace is a Bristol based Production Coordinator working at @sunandmoon_animation and a lead organiser for BAM.

They’ve worked across many different-sized projects from game cutscenes & trailers, nature documentaries and pre-school shows.

Some of Grace’s highlight projects include working on the Disney Game Illusion Island, Warner Brothers game MultiVersus, Sky Kids Pip & Posy Lets Learn and currently the kids show Maddie & Triggs (along with a bunch of NDA projects coming out soon).

Not only is Grace a Production Coordinator and Event Organiser but they’re also incredibly passionate about sustainability in their work and personal life! They’re currently looking forward to a beach clean and looking for more local sustainability events around the Bristol area.

When they’re not helping productions during work, you will find Grace walking their dog, looking up sustainability hacks and illustrating cute bears.

Grace is available to discuss:

-CV’s
-Cover letters
-Emailing etiquette
-Organising events
-Working in production
-Starting out in the industry

The sessions are 15 minutes long and span from 7pm - 8:30pm. These are on a first-come, first-serve basis, so if you’d like to book a slot email bristol.animation.meetup@gmail.com
