After the sold-out limited engagement, the workshop production of JAWBREAKER THE MUSICAL plays its final performance tonight in Hollywood.

New musicals are hard. New musicals with little time and limited resources are even harder. I am blown away by what this remarkable company accomplished in order to make the impossible...possible.

@darrenstein @jeffthomson24 & @mannoftalent...thank you for trusting me with your baby. I feel so lucky, gooped, and gagged to be making this musical with you. @laganjaestranja...you have been the greatest gift and there are no words. I adore you.

@knotfreemedia...you are the reason we are here! THANK YOU for letting us go bigger and bolder than you ever thought we would! @bennybarahona...thank you for always making it work and making it sound wonderful. @talfox_official...thank you for helping us find the most astounding cast, and for ALL of your support!

To the design team... @alexxmollo @gavanwyrickdesign @jacob.carty @kitscarbo @hurricanewilma @vrnkavrl @stephyack_ & Jenine MacDonald...you went above and beyond in every way, and it shows. Thank you for your inventiveness and limitless creativity. @supershakinshawna & @antonia.yangg ...you are the glue that kept us all together. I bow down!

To the juggernaut of a cast...what a privilege to get to explore this show with you. You have brought this delightfully twisted world to such vivid life and I am blown away by your commitment and your sense of humor. You are sensational.

Slide 2 = me directing an inappropriate scene. Sorry, Mom.😬
Slide 9 = the email I wrote to my amazing agent the day I read the script and listened to the demos.🤓

I cannot wait to see what is in store for JAWBREAKER. Until the next chapter...THANK YOU, LA!

27 years ago, I fell in love with the movie Jawbreaker after seeing it opening weekend in theaters. 16 years ago, I was lucky enough to see a concert preview of the music for the in-the-works musical adaptation. Last night, I was finally able to see the full on workshop production of the project and it just reminded me why it’s still of my favorite movies. The queer subtext that made a generation of us fall in love with the movie is now full on text for a new generation, and the biting, dark humor that kept us coming back is thankfully still just as present in the stage show. Great songs. Great performances. A terrific book that manages to enhance the story while still staying true to the movie. Fingers crossed for a NYC production asap so I can see it again and again. Thank you for brining this to life @darrenstein and @jeffthomson24.

“The Flawless Four will walk the halls of Reagan High for another weekend as Jawbreaker the Musical announced an extension for its Los Angeles workshop.

Following overwhelming demand for the stage musical adaptation of Darren Stein’s 1999 teen cult classic, the production will continue with three more performances the weekend of September 25-27 at the Hudson Theatre.”
