Football is about so much more than what happens on the pitch. ⚽🤝 The friendships, the banter, the shared memories and the people you meet along the way are what make the game special. Different backgrounds, one love for football — and friendships that last a lifetime.

“Yes, I made it onto social media. No, I’m not hiding it — I’m in tears, hugging Farah Koko and the other players.

This is what this club means to me. I’ve been following and attending since the early 80s; my father got me into it. The tears yesterday, I couldn’t control. It’s me wishing how much I wanted my father to have been there to see what he always wanted.

I know he was watching from above, and that’s what brought the tears. What a turnaround in 12 months. ❤️💙”

Sydney United 58 are NPL NSW champions after a huge 3–1 win over APIA Leichhardt in the Grand Final at Jubilee Stadium. A massive performance from United on the biggest stage, capping off a dramatic season and adding another chapter to one of NSW football’s great rivalries. 🏆🔴⚫

Ante Miličić — Sydney United, 1996/97 🇭🇷🇦🇺

A 22-year-old No.10 at the beginning of what would become a brilliant career.

In the 1996/97 NSL season, Miličić scored 19 goals in 30 appearances, finishing second in the league’s scoring charts behind teammate David Zdrilić. Sydney United finished NSL Premiers, before falling 2–0 to Brisbane Strikers in the Grand Final.

He’d soon leave Australia for NAC Breda in the Netherlands, taking the next step in a career that would eventually see him play across Europe and become a familiar name in Australian football.

But this is where it started — Sydney United, No.10, aged just 22. ⚽️

1991 Sydney Croatia team jacket produced by Paradise Legends. Thanks to my mate Tom for allowing me borrow this for when I flew up to see his club @sydneyunited58fc play at home in the @auschampionship

I met Tom due to this page as he loves not only his club but his retro football gear like myself. Literally met for the first time outside this ground and then watched the game together.

Cause it’s a bitter sweet symphony, this life.

Fans not criminals.

Good vibes, laughs and a loan of a classic tracksuit thanks to @mijactom 🇭🇷 🇮🇪 👀

2 flights. 2 games. 20 hours door to door. Worst I got called was Braveheart. NPL World Cup.

Once upon a time.

Once upon a tracksuit.

What you remember about the year is not the achievements or the things you did. It’s the moments you had.

And who you had them with.

Like I’ve been saying I’ve made some amazing new mates at EVERY single game I’ve turned up to in the @auschampionship and as a collecter I know what it means to let someone borrow such a dope old piece like this.

Big shout out to you @mijactom and Julian @cscvintage_ for allowing me to get to know you lads and making sure I came today.

Sadly my #1997 Nathan Day match worn hasn’t turned up as of yet but I look forward to wearing it one day with these 2 great @sydneyunited58fc fans one day.
