Life is weird and wonderful. This Thanksgiving long weekend was a real mix of my old and new life, from daycare potlucks to date nights, dressing up and dressing down. Grateful for all the experiences and everything in between. Hope everyone had a beautiful Thanksgiving! 🦃🎃🌽🍂🧡 🤎💛

Recently, @lesfauxbourgeois reopened in July under the new ownership of @gaiahouse.ca and culinary direction of @chefbrent.thornton & team. They haven't changed their core mission of providing quality classic French cuisine at approachable prices. @mijunepak and I recently tried their Premium Tasting Menu consisting of the following items:

1. Ouef Mayonnaise
2. Brioche & Foie Gras Torchon with cherries
3. Ice Plate with Sunseeker & BeauSoleil Oysters, Cherry Stone Clams and Mussels Escabeche
4. Beef Tartare with House-Made Chips
5. Salade de Tomate
6. Dry-aged PEI Blue Dot Striploin
7. Heston Triple-Cooked Fries
8. Extra Dish - Canard au Bordelaise
9. Apple Fritter

Overall, this was a solid meal and for $105.00pp, it was very reasonably-priced. We did have one extra dish in the duck which ironically was the weakest of the bunch. I would stick with the Steak Frites instead. It was excellent where the meat was prepared medium-rare and was tender. It was served with sauce au poivre. Be aware that the regular menu Steak Frites at $38.00 is a different steak and the Heston-style Fries are only available on the tasting menu. They were really good with plenty of soft and creamy potato encased in crispiness. Tartare was classic and buttery with a balance of flavours. Chips were a bit too fragile though. Loved the cheese on the Apple Fritter, especially the creamy brie. Fritter could be a bit lighter though. However frying it to order may not be practical. The Ouef Mayonnaise was tasty with enough saltiness and tang from the anchovy. Ice Plate was solid with properly shucked oysters and buttery mussels. Clams had some brine from the bar and were tasty. More thoughts on my blog!

On y mange quoi ?

La note Time Out : 3/5
Le prix : €€
