Donner disarray after double relegation confirmed… and an unsuccessful German scouting mission 🤦🏻‍♂️

Sadly our scouting mission in Germany over the weekend didn’t uncover any hidden gems, but we can confirm Kebabish Express > Podolski Kebabs. Our transfer budget for next season has been fully spent on beer and squad morale is about as low as it can get.

After an awful start in League 1, we asked for relegation to League 2, which we have since been relegated from. Not exactly the success that our outstanding management duo had planned, but hear us out 👇

With the squad currently going through a serious restructuring and the injury list as long as our honour board, we’re just about getting 4 regular players weekly. This has resulted in a serious amount of ringers being relied upon, which in turn has seriously impacted our usual donner meat tika-taka style and ultimately, League 1 was just too much. After consulting the players, we decided to take voluntary relegation, but this came at the cost of taking over from the team that were sat bottom of the league on -3 points and therefore after a few games we’ve been relegated again…

Some may call this failure, others will see the visionary plan unfolding. League 3 will give us a chance to rebuild with our new look team and hopefully be the platform that former first teamers @ads.nettleship2 and Nick need to return from their varying injuries and who knows; @jacoba19_ might actually bother to turn up at the level he’s mastered previously 👀

However disappointing this may be, last weeks draw against Boca Seniors felt like a real reminder of the spirit that makes AFC Donner Meat who we are. Coming back multiple times to rescue a late 3-3 draw against our great adversaries was a proper throwback to the glory days and of the club we all fell in love with that keeps us coming back for more. We then fell just short against Denzel FC on Monday night in a closely fought 6-5 defeat.

The club would like to place on record our deepest gratitude to all of the ringers who’ve donned the famous donner stripes during our tough times. Not all heros wear capes, they wear sexy, adidas, Widows Peak sponsored kits 👏

Business first - the new season has started off with two wins and a defeat. We opened the season with Glaves beating Meadowhead Boys all on his own, which has been followed up by a 6-2 defeat to Does Danny Roll and 5-0 win against Dean Henderson’s Relish after they couldn’t play on Monday, so we did play a friendly game instead, but for some reason no one has reported the official scoreline in absence of first team GK’s Nick and Rodber. All in all a good start to life in League One 💪

Happiest returns are in order tonight for two donner stalwarts 🥳

Firstly, to our beloved assistant gaffer Slutterbean77. When Nick’s away, Ryan comes out to play and he really does know how to Bridge-it! He’s about as subtle as Mr Blobby on speed and is still yet to accept the blame for the end of year awards ceremony being heavily delayed. With magnesium in his balls and OAP bus pass in his pocket, Ryan, who is affectionately known as the donners junkyard dog, often puts in performances that draw comparison to Roy Keane; more like Roy Cropper meets Officer Doofy if you ask us. For a man should come with a public safety warning, especially after dining out on tuna and Stella Artois, he’s the best ass manager we could ask for 🥙🤎

What to say about our second birthday boy, who celebrates hitting the big 27 this year. He’s become the backbone of our club, someone that we really do struggle without. A formidable force of nature who understands the donner ways. Always pulling out moments that leave us all more breathless than usual. And I can’t forget to mention the fact that he smells really nice and not like a wet sewer rat that’s been dunked in pure poo. Happy birthday @awater99… We’re only joking, of course it’s Rodber we’re talking about here (well, other than the smell). Happy birthday Michael Double, we do love you very much 🥙🤎
