This past Sunday at our Youth & Young Adult Service, led by our very own Young Adult Director, @mikeatkins_, along with Youth co-Directors, Elder Holliman & Sis Rachel McCall, our youth came together to minister under the anointing of God! 🙌🏽

We are so proud of each and every one of our youth who ministered in excellence. It was truly a blessing to witness God move through them!

Following the youth presentations, @tahaititins delivered an amazing word entitled, “When the Age Loses Its Hold.”

To God be the glory for ALL the things He has done! 🙏🏽🔥

As we close out this school year, we want to thank and recognize all of the amazing hard work our staff has put into founding the Black Psychology Society!🤍

We especially want to thank our President, Ryen Clark, for her vision, leadership, and dedication in bringing this organization to life. Her commitment and execution have helped create a lasting impact on our community.

It has been an incredible year serving and uplifting the Black community, and we are so grateful for our executive board: Ryen Clark, Da’Vionnah Hutchins, Tajinia Magee, Cierra Anguiano, Amariah Scott, Jordan Daniel, Michael Atkins, and Temi Bakare.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds!✨

Story time

This is one of my favorite moments (captured by @thruthelensla)! I used to coach these guys some moons ago, way back when I was towering over all of them. As you can see, a lot has changed 😫

I used to coach them in a club (I won’t name bcuz I’m not petty 😂) Anyways we were rocking, and winning and having a ton of fun when out of no where a parent, who’s son isn’t in these pics, said I was playing favoritism with Allen. If you talk to Allen, he would tell you that was definitely not the case lol

Anyway, when I got FIRED, I walked away from coaching for a while. I didn’t know what I did wrong and I was hurt bcuz I felt like I let my family and my players down. I started looking at other clubs for Allen to play on bcuz I was done. A few months later all that changed.

The parents of the guys in the 1st pic called me and told me I should start my own program and if I did, they’d bring their boys to play for me. I was flattered, but I was a little nervous to be running a whole program by myself AND being able to deliver the quality and attention these boys needed. I decided to take a leap of faith and went ahead and did it. Got us some fly uniforms, traveled more and did all the fun family things I couldn’t do originally.

I kept the program going until the boys went to high school and taught them everything I could. Most of it was life skills - handling adversity, winning and losing with dignity, and integrity. I knew those skills would be more important than anything. They didn’t know it, but I was learning from them just as much as they were from me. Anyways, THIS is the group that made me the coach I am today. I love them and their families for life. Shout out to @kyle.cutzzz ‘s dad, Calvin, he is the 🐐

Fast forward, all of these guys played Varsity basketball as Freshman’s and Sophomores, & played college basketball at the D1, D2 and Juco Level. I was beyond happy to have them all there on the last night of our Summer runs. (I cried in the car lol)

Just remember. Life is unpredictable. God is the greatest. Love yours. And WIN!

The Caribbean Student Association has had an amazing time growing our family across this past year. Through our dance workshops, socials, food sales, educational dialogues, performances, and destress activities, we’ve been able to cultivate “ONE LOVE” amongst our fellow Bruins. Today, we wanted to celebrate some of the students that have made this dream possible. Our board features a wide array of cultures, talents, and interests, so don’t be shy and say what’s up! Y’all definitely wanna tap in because this spring quarter is about to be different...
