"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much." — Helen Keller

As an interdisciplinary musical artist, a culture curator and as the founder of the @greenhousemovement I have always believed in the power of collaboration and Friday the 6th was no different.

Despite the weather and its shenanigans everybody pulled up and played their part and it's safe to say that you'll be seeing many of these faces for a very long time to come — on the tour and also in other places.

To everyone that believed in my vision and to everyone who pulled up thank you. Separation is an illusion and together we can do so much.

I'll be sharing more images and videos as the days go by and that includes the album link which we had to take down to correct a few things.

The DIEL is out the pen now so Kwa ufupi Twende Nalo.

The first concert in the DIEL Album Tour went down at the @the.livingrooms on Friday and we had ourselves a time despite the stormy weather.

Many thanks to everyone who walked with me and worked with me towards actualizing my vision. You, my friends are the biggest champions and it's an honour to have you in my corner. I am looking forward to what the future holds for us.

Many thanks also to everyone who defied the elements and showed up; with some of you coming from as far as Arusha to be there. Your support and your patronage means a whole lot.

These beautiful pictures were taken by @nishogeto and I'll be sharing more images and videos asap.

Until next time which is not very far from this time. Asante!
Signed,

DIEL.

A small snippet of @mikebytehill & @trabolee
free-flowing on @nas 'Whose World is This' instrumental during the 10th Volume of The Living Room Sessions where we were hosted by @maxtvw on January 27th.

Tra and I were featured as hiphop afficionadas together with @fidel_keyz @symba_drums @mozey_bass @mu.ya___ and we had ourselves a time.

This weekend we're back again at the @the.livingrooms with DIEL the album launch on Friday the 6th and with Volume 11 of TLS on Saturday the 7th.

Cop tickets for my album party on my bio and come join us as we celebrate musical greatness.

On Friday the 6th all roads lead to the @the.livingrooms where I will be launching DIEL the album. I'll be accompanied by my very talented friends and that includes @mikebytehill aka MiC iLL.

He is a seasoned producer, performer and instrumentalist from Liverpool, UK who is currently based in Kenya. Mike is a founding member of 'The Fire Beneath The Sea' — a band he managed and fronted and you can find their EPs online as well.

The Fire Beneath the Sea was an 18 piece hip hop/ska/drum and bass/jazz band and they were big on festival vibes. He has also been producing and recording his own music since, on and off in between pursuing multiple ventures.

Cop your tickets via the Hustlesasa link on my bio and catch us live on stage this Friday.

@_buildher

It was a real pleasure to be part of Buildher’s Transition to Placement event last week, alongside @mikebytehill and representing the @therewildings project.

The work Buildher is doing to empower women in construction, through their incredible training facilities in Nairobi, is very inspiring. We had the chance to meet and chat with the latest cohort of women as they transition from 6 months of intensive training into their on-site placements.

At @therewildings, we’re proud to be supervising and upskilling 46 women from Buildher, an all-female carpentry team building 7 timber construction homes in Tigoni, Kenya.

A fantastic project to be part of.
More updates on that build coming soon.

It always takes me a moment to gather my thoughts and feelings after a green woodworking festival. It’s certainly a challenge to sum it up without sounding excessively earnest or nostalgic. The reality though, is that these gatherings represent so much more than a party in a field.
🥳
There is such a powerful sense of community, of sharing and generosity of spirit at these events. A shared approach to the world and a coming together of people who choose to live life a little bit (and sometimes a long way) outside the lines that have been drawn for us.
🔥
In a time when we are increasingly mired by exhausting capitalist culture, expected to be better, richer, more efficient, more beautiful and permanently on call, it is a relief for the soul to spend time with a collective who believe that we could and should be doing things a little bit differently.
💃🏻
There is plainly something which resonates deep within us when we work, play and share face to face. I don’t believe it should feel like a novelty to craft with our hands, to play games with no screens, to sing with no expectation that it might go viral on ‘tictoc’, but simply because it is joyful to make music with others, yet increasingly, it does.
🎳
I’m sure that for some, it will sound whimsical or excessively romantic to talk of ‘Singing together with many voices’ and ‘dancing barefoot in the grass’ but I truly feel that at the heart of an epidemic of depression and anxiety, sits a lack of physical connection to the earth and to the people around us.
🌱
It is often pointed out to me that I am an excessive over thinker. No surprises there… This has, to a degree always been the case. But at events like the Northern bowl gathering, I find that my mind is quieter and I am certain deep down that it is because, this is how we are supposed to be.
🎶
To @northern_bowl @matty.whittaker @joimbolc @northernwoodmonkey and everyone who helps to bring this event to life, I love and thank you. You make something very special.

Having a ball at the @northern_bowl. Carved a bowl, hung out with friends, drank a bottle of Blackberry Bush, and almost lost my voice from singing. Deep apologies to the @marywallopers for murdering so many of their songs 🤣 #northernbowl #greenwoodwork #greenwoodworking #handmade
