one day on retreat I had a beautiful conversation with @evolve_with_nikki about being a part of a village. that as necessary as it is to have community, that means you also have to be a willing participant to be a part of it. we all want a village, but are we willing to be villagers?

on retreat where participation is (mostly) mandatory, community becomes a verb. something you do, embody, learn techniques to be a part of. active listening and witnessing another in their depths without trying to fix. carrying bags on a long hike for someone else because they’re too heavy. making a snack bag for later when someone misses their breakfast. having hard conversations because communication means true intimacy. longer hugs that don’t let go. repeating yourself over and over with patience and love.

retreats are this special pocket of time where relationships are expedited and you learn how to be available for someone else’s needs, while honoring your own. because having a village is only as fruitful as it is to be a villager yourself without expectation in return.

proud to call these 14 humans my village. community in action. watching them truly show up for one another in the both the practice and outside of it. I firmly believe my retreats are a training ground for life, to be a part of something bigger than ourselves, and to live yoga.

I don’t have words yet. Messages from friends have kept my head above water. Thank you to everyone who saw how special he was and helped me fill his life with love.

“Evan I love you dude. I know how much Paolo meant to you. He was your everything and It hurts to see you both having to part ways for now.

Letting go is the hardest kind of love, choosing peace for them over keeping them for ourselves. It’s beautiful to see how much they teach us in the beginning and in the end.

What you did was an act of courage disguised as heartbreak. Im glad you felt that relief, it’s a gorgeous feeling, Paolo can breathe and run again.

The body softens, but the spirit expands. Grief comes in waves because love was deep. Paolo was lucky not just to be loved, but to be understood all the way to the end.”

RECIPES FOR JOY — In September 2025, I went on a katonah yoga retreat led by @kirbyyoga and @evvandflow in Sayulita, MX and it was genuinely the most loving and joy-filled week of my life. this video has served as my video diary for any time I have lost the plot (daily) and need to be reminded what life is all about and plug me right back into my heart.

connecting, practicing presence, gaining insight, learning, listening, nourishing, loving, supporting, expanding, caring, playing — retreats are simply medicine. what a gift to experience.

PS - I have SO many half-baked reels like this in my drafts. it’s never too late to post, right?

today is the dawn of the 8th retreat I’ve hosted over the last 3 years (3rd retreat cohosting w @evvandflow)!!!! WOW. i’ve learned soooo much along the journey and have simultaneously let go of so much. the comparison and doubt mostly, that little ego voice that used to tell me what I offered wasn’t “good enough.” the more im out in the world, the more I see that my work is not only good enough, it’s rare, it’s absolutely vital. how? why? because at the heart of my retreats, is yoga. and yoga is this through line to the most radical healing. yoga gives you yourself. and that in even just a week of devoted, consistent practice: nervous systems regulate, anxiety settles, acceptance illuminates, potential blossoms, and community grows. i have never ever left a retreat anything more than an infinitely better person and teacher. and so, after these years, how could I not believe in what I’m offering to the world?! but damn, I do wonder if the nerves and butterflies will ever go away.😩😂 to retreat number 8, see you on the other side!!!!!!!

Yoga Retreats: 10% yoga, 90% JOY!!!!

This retreat will forever be etched in my heart. A group spanning all ages, all levels, and backgrounds. Moms, sons, nomads, yogis, teachers, bartenders, dancers, paralegals, retirees, therapists. All sharing a common thread: authenticity. To act courageously and fearlessly in the pursuit of self. Unafraid to be exactly who they were. No thought to precarious. No emotion too big. No joke too weird. Fully, wholly, LOVED and loving. & In between the margaritas, wild jungle treks, extended practices, and torrential rains in nightly meditations: magic errupted. We all felt it. It was a peculiarly, perfect pocket of time, one I will never forget. Thank you for the laughter, the hugs, & the trust. I love you all so very deeply.

Gratitude to @benkalra @hotelito_los_suenos @hiking_sayulita it wouldn't have been the same without you.

Thank you to @evvandflow for being the best retreat partner in the world. We hope to see you in Costa Rica Feb 12-17, for another magical time deep in the jungle of Santa Teresa. Katonah yoga, boat trip, sauna/cold plunge on-site, andddddda private chef 😍 yes, the camcorder will be present!! and yes, we really will have a good ass time.

Year in review 🌞

Spent a lot of time reflecting on this past year as I moved into 29. I released my first song on Spotify which was yearssss in the making. I made new friends and connected with old. I switched jobs (surprised?), traveled a bunch, slowed down with the family, and had some of the best moments of my life to date. I experienced loss and how fragile life truly can be. But, I also found love and joy in places I never knew I could and was reminded of where it’s already been found.

If I know you, I just want to thank you for the laughs we’ve shared, the special moments, and the memories we got to make. If I haven’t, I can’t wait to meet you this year.
