2025 was an unforgettable year for a lot of us. From the Big East Tournament in March, to games in Texas and Minnesota, it’s been a pleasure to see these awesome places.

Super thankful to have some awesome people and friends throughout the way, including my fellow broadcasters from The Corn Belt League from years past. It was great catching up with them last Saturday. We’re all doing some great things!

Wishing you all the best in 2026!

Seasons end, but the impact of the people behind them doesn’t.

To our coaching staff, especially our guest coaches — thank you for your wisdom, belief, and presence. You gave us more than tactics, you gave us a sense of purpose.

To the student media team, thank you for capturing the story no one else could tell — the sideline emotions, the hard-fought moments, the heart. You preserved memories we’ll revisit for years.

To our student managers — your hustle never made headlines, but it never went unnoticed. Whether it was tracking stats, setting up gear, bringing the energy to every practice, or keeping our fans updated online, you made this season run.

To our senior players – you showed us what leadership means. Your actions spoke louder than your words, and your drive was a sight to behold. Thank you for the passion you played with, the standard you upheld, and the stories you helped write. This team is stronger, tighter, and more inspired because of you.

To our fans — thank you.
For the cheers that echoed through packed bleachers, the road trips, the raincoats, the late nights under stadium lights.
For showing up — not just when it was easy, but when it mattered most.

This season didn’t end the way we wanted it to. But there are stories in every match that never make the highlight reel — glances shared in pressure, words whispered before kickoff, pride masked by heartbreak. This season was full of people who gave it their all, and for that, we’re grateful.

For the second year in a row and for the third time in four years, I am very excited, but humbled, to announce the broadcast team won the ‘Best Sports Play By Play’ award from the Nebraska Broadcasters Association.

Just wanted to express how thrilling it has been to broadcast and engage in sports media these past couple years. Though we love being able share our talents to our audience, the hard-working student-athletes and coaches are the ones who are the true heroes. Win or lose. We are so grateful for all athletes and coaches who’ve accepted us with open arms to help out in any way for the team.

To the friends that I have made within Broadcasting and at Prep (or both), I sincerely appreciate the support, feedback, criticism, and encouragement that I truly needed to hear in order to be successful. It may sound cliche, but this award truly wouldn’t have been possible without our friends who are there to pat us on the back, especially in times when I personally needed it. In the words of former Beatle Ringo Starr… I get by with a little help from my friends.

Regarding my future in college, I look forward to continue this in anyway possible when I get to Creighton in a matter of days. It’s all about moving forward and never looking back. To say the least, it’s been a very eventful summer!

If I were to thank every single person that has been apart of our journey, this post would be longer than the Bill Of Rights. My fellow broadcasters and media classmates at @cpjayjournal have a bright future ahead of them, they are certainly in good hands for years to come. I’m certain this won’t be the last gold plaque that will make its way to Prep.

To conclude, Broadcasting and sports media is our passion, and passion is our energy. We appreciate you, the people, that enlightened our passion that kept us going. Though we are very honored to receive this award, the greatest award is the appreciation of the people.

Thank you! RDJ
-Alex
