The older I get, the less birthdays feel like a celebration of age—and the more they feel like a reminder of just how many lives have touched mine.

Another year gives you a reason to look back.

At the friends who showed up.
The love and support of family.
The people who gave me something you can never get back: **their time.**

Whether that was time spent talking, laughing, working, training together in class, creating memories, sharing advice—or simply being present.

I think about the people who reached out.
The ones who celebrated with me.
The people who supported me, challenged me, encouraged me, taught me something, or crossed my path at exactly the right moment.

Some stayed for years.
Some were only part of a chapter.
Some may never even realize the impact they had.

And somewhere along the way, I hope I’ve been able to leave that kind of impact on a few people too.

I’m incredibly grateful our paths crossed.

For the people.
For the memories.
For the lessons.
For another year. 🥂

“Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

And I think there’s a lot of truth in that.

We spend so much time thinking about what’s next—
the next goal, the next milestone, the next version of ourselves—

that sometimes we forget to appreciate the people, moments, and experiences that helped us become who we are right now.

So instead of making this post only about my birthday, I want to give you an opportunity to stop and look around too:

**Who is one person you’re grateful crossed your path?**

Or—

**What’s one memory or lesson from this past year that you never want to forget?**

Tell me in the comments. 👇🏽
You never know who might need the reminder to appreciate it too.

Always Growing 🌱
Make Yourself A Priority 🔥🧘🏽‍♂️🌊

Some of the best growth this past year didn’t happen alone—it happened in rooms full of people who pushed me to keep getting better.

To my fellow instructors: thank you.

Thank you for coming to my classes, supporting what I’m building, bringing your own energy into the room, and giving me the chance to learn from you when I stepped into yours.

There’s something speci

Anyone else go to Cornerstone Fest? 🫶

This festival in a random field in the middle of nowhere Illinois was my favorite place to be during the last week of June every summer when I was a teen!

It fueled my style, my music taste, and my friendships for a long time. I went every year from 2007-2011 and only missed 2012, which would end up being the last year, because I was too pregnant to go. 😭

And yes, that is a pic of me with Family Force 5, lol.

Punks. Mosh pits. Dirt. Good times! 🥹🖤

I Want to Know - by KOHNS - I had the day off today. I let the day unfold and only did restful things. I fell into conversation with my down stairs house mate Mike. We used to live together up stairs before and during the beginning of Covid. I’ve know him for many years, he’s a good friend of mine. He ain’t perfect, like me. We both went through divorces in the last few years. The unraveling of our lives due to our own choices. We talked about our miss steps, failures and how we still see the Lord working. He shot some video and audio of me while I did some gardening. This is a new song I’ve been working on about tending the garden of my life. I want to know Jesus more, and how He gardens my life. Pruning the dead parts of the Joshua plant and some of the living. But…I’m seeing new growth while trusting His process of tending to me. Thanks @mikejumps for the conversions and listening as I shared deep, life long struggles. I love how God brought about this conversation today from the kitchen window to the yard. Love you. And yes, I know it’s way too late to plant tomatoes but I got them for free and I’m experimenting. #viralvídeo #tending #music #gardening #kohns

My page is entering a new chapter. I’ll be sharing more at the intersection of maternal & infant health, public health, and film.

I reside where data meets storytelling and lived experience drives systems change.

If you’re here for advocacy, and narrative you’re in the right place. 🤍
