IRONMAN California ☀️

What a day !!

As I told one of our athletes @katie_.larson the day before the race - doing an Ironman is one of those BIG asterisk moments in your life. Embrace it for all it is.

So incredibly proud and grateful to be on the sidelines supporting all the @nvdmcoaching athletes. I do my best to spot them all out there and give them a word of encouragement, but keeping track of 45 is next to impossible. 😅

3 of the 45 I personally coach ( as I get asked that all the time ) - @crodtv @mattchoi_6 and Paul S and they all had incredible days as all 3 are incredibly hard workers and dedicated athletes. I just try my best not to mess up a good thing. 😅

With that being said, I am SO excited for their future in the sport. Yesterday was a moment that purely showed what truly is possible for them. 📈📈📈

We also had 3 coaches racing yesterday as well - @sharp_tahoe @kennymeyerracing @triwithbruney - and @nvdmcoaching wouldn’t be possible without the coaching team and ALL the athletes that invite us into their lives and entrust us with their passion, athletic goals and in some cases ( most cases ) a major life overhaul. An opportunity to serve and support that we don’t take for granted.

Using gear intentionally to shape how a video feels.

My cinematography became more intentional when I started thinking about each tool in terms of the feeling it creates, not just how it looks.

A 75mm creates separation, turning the audience into observers. A 28mm brings them closer to the action, making them feel present in the moment.

Even the GoPro Mission 1 gives me access to perspectives that make the footage feel rawer and more immediate.

The same applies to color grading. We chose Video Village FilmBox and Scatter to tie the final image together, adding film-like texture, color richness, and a more immersive experience.

Because it’s never just about how an image looks. It’s about how it makes you feel.

The more I understand my tools, the more intentional I become with both.

Finally got around to reviewing the summer archives

Yesterday was a damn good time.

Threw down the fastest bike split, had a blast out there, and learned a ton along the way. Exactly what I’m after with this sport — push the limits, have some fun, and keep figuring out how to get better.

More than anything though, I’m just incredibly grateful I get to do this. To be surrounded by people I love, to have the opportunity to chase these crazy goals, and to have met — and continue to meet — so many incredible people and friends along the way.

That’s the part I never want to lose sight of.

On to the next one 🤙

Maybe God doesn’t always save us from the fall.

Sometimes He allows us to stumble, to fail, to sit in the places we would have chosen to avoid.

Not because He wants us to break—
but because there are parts of us that can only be built there.

The lows humble us.
They refine us.
They transform us.

And eventually, you realize the struggle wasn’t something to escape.

It was part of becoming who you were meant to be.

Glad and sincere hearts. That’s the posture I’m chasing lately. Less rushing, more gathering. More tables, more thankfulness, more presence. When you live like that, growth takes care of itself.
