Musical Style: Jazz

Michael Ragonese is a Los Angeles based pianist and composer leading a modern jazz trio featuring Luca Alemanno on bass and Anthony Fung on drums. A new night of jazz arrives at Spotlight with John Beasley’s MONK’estra Big Band.

Led by GRAMMY-winning pianist, composer and arranger John Beasley, MONK’estra puts a fresh spin on the music of jazz legend Thelonious Monk, moving between swing, funk and Afro-Cuban rhythms while keeping Monk’s unmistakable compositions at its core.
