30 Summers.

It’s incredible to think about everything that has happened over the last 30 summers. I grew from childhood to adulthood here. I’ve experienced incredible highs and even the lowest lows. I’ve met thousands of people from all over the world, and I’ve had the opportunity to watch more children than I can count fall in love with camp the same way I did 30 summers ago.

I’ve now had campers whose parents were a part of my own childhood memories. Not many people are lucky enough in this lifetime to spend 30 summers doing anything—let alone something that simply brings them joy. This is not something I will ever take for granted.

What a gift to celebrate this milestone in a year when the celebration and preservation of our forever home was a gift in itself.

Jon and Elissa—thank you for protecting, preserving and fostering our incredible home. This is our home because it’s filled with our summer family. Thank you for being such an integral part of that family. Thank you for taking a chance on me at 20 years old and seeing that I had so many years ahead of me to give, when I was simply a college student who dreamed of becoming a teacher and returning year after year to camp. I guess sometimes dreams really do come true.

To my camp family, which extends well beyond the people spending my 30th “final night” with me on beautiful Fiddle Lake—thank you for being a part of my story and for making this experience one worth living over and over again.

Every summer is a new journey and a new adventure, with new faces and some of the same ones who have grown and changed alongside me. It’s the people who make the place—and after 30 summers, it’s clear that you truly are the GREATEST of people.

Because life will ALWAYS be GREAT at Camp Chen-A-Wanda. ❤️💛

My daughters aren’t really into sports. And that’s ok! Because as much as I’d love to coach them in basketball, there’s nothing that brings me more joy than seeing them sing along and dance to #live music 🎶
And last weekend was a full circle moment. Going to @govballnyc and singing along to songs that we listened to when they were babies, was just so special. Core memories for them. Proud moment for this #girldad #govball #lorde #katseye

What a memorable Mother’s Day!
Ended with a super fun Bat Mitzvah.
Started with super mom @mikikuperstein getting a special breakfast (and poem!) from our girls.
And we squeezed in a Soho brunch and shopping in between!

Michal, it’s impossible to put into words how much you mean to us, but you know we’ll try our best to show you by showering you with love every single day! ❤️

We mourn the loss of Sarah Eizak, @ifyouheardwhatiheard Interviewee @akuperstein beloved grandmother. Sarah was just a teenager when she endured through the horrors of the Holocaust. She made it to Israel after the war as Israel was becoming a state and served in the army. She built a beautiful family, one this is vibrant, growing, and proud of their heritage. Our hearts are with @akuperstein @mikikuperstein and their entire family. May Sarah’s memory be for a blessing! We will always carry her story forward and make sure the world will never forget.

We marked the end of an era this week. My beloved Savta passed away at the age of 96. She was my last living grandparent, all of them Holocaust Survivors. I’ll never understand how my Savta was so full of joy and positivity. How she would always light up a room with her smile and laughter, despite the horrors she endured as a young girl. She was separated from her family as a teenager and sent on a death march to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The Nazis even stole her only possession, the final postcard sent by her mother before she was murdered. She didn’t share the details of her childhood until later in life because she didn’t want to make us sad. But once I found out, it only inspired me more. We should all live our lives like my Savta. Radiating joy, spreading love, and seeing the best in everyone. I will forever be in awe of my her. And I’m so grateful my children will always remember her warmth and kindness, how she looked at my grandfather, and her perseverance in the face of unspeakable evil. We miss you Savta 💔
