Questo è il ritratto di Mia, nato per un regalo speciale ad Arianna, per la quale Mia è stata una compagna amatissima. Oggi non c’è più, ma il loro legame continua a vivere nei ricordi e nell’amore che ha lasciato.

Dalla tela bianca agli ultimi tocchi di foglia oro, in questo video vi accompagno attraverso tutta la creazione: i colori dello sfondo, la luce negli occhi, il suo sorriso e ogni piccolo dettaglio del pelo. Ho cercato di custodire sulla tela la sua espressione e tutta la sua dolcezza. 🎨🦋

Dare forma a un legame così importante è una delle parti più preziose del mio lavoro.

"La mia partecipazione alla mostra di Milano a sostegno delle donne migranti è stata un'esperienza profondamente toccante e significativa per me. Dopo che io, mio marito Essam e mio figlio Aboud abbiamo subito gravi ferite durante la guerra a Gaza e il nostro difficile viaggio in Italia per le cure mediche, ho trovato in questa mostra uno spazio autentico per esprimere emozioni e dolori che a volte è difficile descrivere a parole. Attraverso l'obiettivo della macchina fotografica, ho cercato di raccontare una parte della mia storia e un passato vissuto tra il mare e la cenere. Tutto il mio ringraziamento e la mia gratitudine a chi mi ha sostenuta e mi ha chiesto di far parte di questa mostra. Grazie per la vostra presenza e per il vostro continuo supporto."

My participation in the Milan exhibition to support migrant women was a deeply moving and powerful experience for me. After my husband Essam, my son Aboud, and I suffered severe injuries during the war in Gaza, and our harsh journey to Italy for medical treatment, I found in this exhibition a true space to express feelings and pains that are sometimes hard to describe in words. Through the camera lens, I tried to convey a part of my story and a past we lived between the sea and ashes. All thanks and gratitude to everyone who supported me and asked me to be a part of this exhibition. Thank you for your presence and continuous support.

Two original acrylic paintings on canvas by@fradatheartist, 13x18”, built through layers of color, texture, and movement. 🎨

Each piece is created by layering acrylic paint in expressive strokes—thick, translucent, and gestural—allowing earlier colors to remain visible beneath the surface. The texture shifts throughout the canvas, from soft washes and elongated drips to heavier marks and raised passages of paint that catch the light.

Vivid greens, yellows, reds, and oranges overlap and interact against a dark ground, creating depth and a sense of movement. The paintings are energetic and tactile, with every layer adding another trace of the process.

Together, they create a bold visual dialogue between structure and spontaneity, color and texture, stillness and movement.

Curated by Flaminio Gualdoni and developed in collaboration with Archivio Jorrit Tornquist, the exhibition traces more than six decades of the artist’s radical investigation into colour as a physical, perceptual and spatial experience.

Moving between painting, architecture, science and colour theory, Tornquist transforms colour from pictorial element into an active dimension of space.
