HEALWELL : From brain child to first year completed ☑️
When I served as the president of the Marlborough Community Coalition, I was present for many meetings discussing violence, trauma in our community, populations that really needed community and belonging and more.

While MCC was doing as much as a neighborhood could do, I wanted to play a different role is helping the KC community.

@aimwell_yoga is a yoga studio, but AIMWELL is not only that. I created AIMwell to be different. To fill gaps and the Healing Justice program does just that.

I am so grateful to @cdubdoozie and @jonesmarvia for support and belief in this program to get it off the ground. To my colleagues @caseywheels (@dr.caseypsychology ) & @listenmore for your time, effort, and gifts. And to the many souls we taught, the support pillars at the KC Health Department and KC wellness court. The city council members who believed in me and this effort…

I blow my own mind.

We bring licensed psychology, meditation, and trauma informed yoga together over 8 weeks to empower our community to change their thoughts, find connection and belonging, and to feel better in their body.

We are RENEWED for 2027 and I am excited to see this program grow.
More information to come on how you can get involved.

The idea isn’t new, but the power of the people to make it happen is novel - this combined community effort is the first of its kind in the US and kcmo got it. 🌊🖤🙏🏾

📍 MS. T’S KITCHEN — 10201 47th St B, Shawnee, KS 66203 🏠

Now this chicken?! Somebody got some Aunty Flaps in the kitchen 😂 Fried harder than Colossus’ elbow! That naked wing was SEASONED, and even sauced, this jawn kept its CRUNCH! 🔥

Now WHOSE GRANDMA COOKED THIS PORK CHOP?! 😂 Ms. T, can I come to the cookout?! That seasoning had my taste buds lit like a Don Toliver mosh pit! And that gravy? Thick and just right. Only thing thinner than the pork chop was the napkins at Texas Tom’s 😂

And that CATFISH?! Bigger than Ms. Puff! 🐟 Meaty, thick, and the crunch was LOUD! I needed a lil salt, but that jawn taste different!

If you looking for soul food that’s HITTIN’, slide to Ms. T’s Kitchen! We gonna give it a BUSSIN! 🔥

Tell ’em the Hood Dude sent ya! 🤝🏾

Yesterday I was CRAVING some SOUL FOOD, so I slid out to Ms. T’s Kitchen in Shawnee and let me tell you… 👀🔥

Now hold up! That fried fish was looking like a STALAGMITE 😂 — crispy, golden and built different!

Them oxtails? Tender like being a Browns fan. 😭😂 Fall-apart good!

And them chicken wings was WANGIN’ and SAUCING like when Post Malone first started his career! 🤣🔥

This spot is DEFINITELY worth the trip. And yes, she got desserts too, so don’t act like I ain’t warn you! 🤞🏾

Slide to Ms. T’s Kitchen and tell ’em the Hood Dude sent ya! 🍗🐟🔥

Yesterday morning, I had the absolute privilege of being a reaction panelist at Urban Summit (@urban_summit_kcmo) 19th annual conference. Urban Summit provided an opportunity for us to listen to young adults' frustrations with our political environment. Before the discussion started, Qiana Thomason (@qiana_in_bloom) delivered a powerful speech about the negative implications that Amendment #4 will have on our initiative petition process and the resilience one must have to continuously fight for equality in our government.

A special thank you to Gwen Grant (@ladygg2200) who moderated the panel and showed everyone what true resiliency and strength looks like in our society; and to the panelists Eric Hawthrone, Jeremy Tindall (@jay_tindall1), Amaia Cook, Justin Tindall, and Mili Mansaray (@milimansa) who helped organize the discussed topics and provided us with real honest discussion about their experiences with our political system as a young adult in Kansas City.

Politicians must show up for our youth. Young adult voices must be heard and they must be given an opportunity to truly participate in our Governmental decisions. Thank you for providing an opportunity for us to hear your concerns as we strive to create better policy decisions for our County.

In Kansas City, when a Black woman goes missing, the search doesn’t start with urgency. It starts with judgment.

Our latest investigation examines what families and advocates already know: that Black women and girls in this city are disappearing at rates far beyond their share of the population, and too often, the system decides who is worth finding before it decides to look.

We just dropped a powerful new episode of We Keep Us Safe: The Movement.

In this conversation, we sit down with Mili Mansaray of The Kansas City Defender to talk about storytelling, media, and the power of controlling our own narratives.

Too often, our communities are talked about—but not spoken with. This episode challenges that. Mili breaks down what it means to build media rooted in truth, accountability, and community, and why that work matters now more than ever.

If you care about how our stories are told—and who gets to tell them—this is a conversation you need to hear.
