As we continue celebrating National First-Generation Week, we’re excited to share our next DFS alumni spotlight! 🌟💙

Meet DFS Mentor Ingrid Medina Estrada (Cohort 15) — a remarkable example of resilience, ambition, and first-gen pride. Her story reminds us that it’s never too late to chase your dreams and redefine success! 🙌✨

”My name is Ingrid Medina, I’m a first gen Mexican American student at UNR, I returned to UNR as a freshman after 5 years and am now majoring in marketing. Before I returned to UNR, I was a small business owner for 3 years as an esthetician specializing in lash extensions. Some of my hobbies include going to the gym, traveling, and shopping duh! DFS recruited me into the program at 12 years old when I was in the 6th grade, it has watched me grow as a woman over the last 10 years and has been a great support system whether it was academic or not. Now that I’ve returned to school they have given me comfort at UNR which greatly helped with my transition. I’m very lucky to have been chosen for this program many years ago.”

I just want to start this off by saying thank you. These last three years have been filled with laughs and tears and meeting beautiful people every single day. I’m so thankful for every single person who ever let me do anything to them whether it was brows or lashes. My time doing this will forever be cherished 🤍 I will be stepping away from this beautiful career to venture out and see other possibilities for my future, with that being said I am looking for someone to take over my beautiful clients and is willing to learn my craft (if you know anyone interested please have them reach out to me.) All of my appointments for next week will still take place but if you’re looking to come in before I go there are still a couple of slots open. With any appointments after March 10th please reach out so we can get your appointments situated. Again thank you SO much to all of my beautiful clients and friends that I’ve made along the way.
