All Winners Comics #17
Timely Comics, Winter 1945
CGC 9.0 (Off-White to White pages)
Alex Schomburg cover and
4th Highest Graded on CGC Census

In 1945, harnessing the power of atomic energy was on everybody’s mind. This piece of golden age goodness depicts the All Winners crew stopping a heist at a domestic atomic research facility.

Alex Schomburg’s wartime covers have always been special to many of us collectors. Typically without word bubbles, his covers told us through his artwork exactly what was taking place. Enlarge parts of this cover and take a look at the bad guy in the yellow suit holding a gun to a facility hostage while holding a book titled “Atomic Engine Plans” as Captain America lays a right hook to his neck/head. In the lower right corner the Sub-Mariner chokes out a bad guy holding a machine gun. It was this brutal action our heroes fighting the bad guys in a time of war that made Alex Schaumburg, one of the single greatest Golden Age World War II artists.

World War II came to an official land on September 2, 1945. This book was published in the Winter of 1945 and is the first “postwar” issue, published just as the superhero boom was starting to cool off. WW II had an effect on everything, including comic book production. Due to paper shortages during the war, this title as well as many other others were shrunk down to a bare bones 36 pages. This particular issue brought back the standard 52-68 page format and reinstated the Human Torch stories that had been cut during the time of the 36 page format.

The editor of this book was a young man named Stan Lee! This book is one of the toughest Timely/Golden Age keys to find in high grade, with a bright, fresh presentation and a color strike that still pops after 80+ years! Books like this rarely surface — let alone in a 9.0 with only 3 copies graded higher, making this book 1 of 2 copies which are the 4th highest graded in existence.✨

My journey for the modern grail has led me to this moment! Blood, sweat, and tears to acquire these were worth the sacrifice! It wouldn’t be as sweet if I didn’t hunt them down and subdue the torture myself. I was trained as young kid to wait in line for the next exclusive coming out if it being Star Wars toys, PlayStation/Xbox, Jordans, etc… As an adult coming back to collecting comics, I felt that 🔥🔥🔥 again… the hunt and chase felt all too familiar. The @legacycomicsandcards 15 hour wait was nothing to me but pure agonizing joy. Traveling 12 hours to @amazingcomiccon to meet @quintanarte a 2nd time was a traffic breeze. And finally @fanexpoanaheim where I enjoyed the company of fellow @quintanarte fanatics! It was the journey that was priceless to me. The people I met and stories we shared are the things you remember. The journey of feeling alive surrounded with like-minded genuine people is the fun part you get addicted to. These modern grails are just the icing on the cake! I’m not sure if I can sustain this path of collecting comics financially but I’m glad I had one last go! It has helped me open up from my shell and connect to people like never before. Anyhow, Forever thanks to the modern Legend himself @quintanarte for providing the beauty to connect people in this ever so disconnected world we live in today!

Also, Shoutout to the geniune brothers I met along the way @milkcrate.goods @royalluckcollectibles @thrillercomics @beyond.comix @1_fin_fan_1 and Especially @key_comix and family (you guys are beautiful inside and out)! Everyone get your Comics graded by the Best CGC facilitator in the Game @key_comix … I Trust this guy with my Life!…you won’t be disappointed.
