Once again, it's my favorite day of the year! 🎃☠️

This year is feeling a bit bitter-sweet. Due to an unexpected back injury 🩻, I didn't have the chance to go through the season's usual rituals such as haunted houses, Halloween parties, Rocky Horror and I'm even having to sit out for my first home game since joining @prowlersderby 🐾🛼 tomorrow. (The season closer--SO DON'T FORGET TO GET YOUR TICKETS! 🎟)

But despite the melancholy style FOMO that lives in my heart, I am so thankful for what I have around me. Life is good. ✌️

Hey, hey, hey! Guess who is doing a #SurvivorTakeover on our account on Thursday! It’s @girl__adrift (they/them). If you haven’t seen this face on our Instagram yet, then I won’t fault you for not paying attention 😉. GirlAdrift is one of the original members of We Are HER—back when there were only 5 of us! And this talented individual has had quite a presence on our social media as they’ve attended HER events with me, posted educational content (they’re currently minoring in gender studies), and been a model on HER photoshoots + they’ve been my BFF since I was 3.

So needless to say, I’m pretty excited that GirlAdrift is going to share a little bit about their healing journey (PS: if you couldn’t tell, they’re super into derby, so I bet that you’ll hear about how derby has influenced their healing journey!). I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll stop there! Please join me in welcome GirlAdrift as our February Takeover!

New post from [hope] on #healing This is a good one 👌🏼 “From that day on, I knew that I will forever carry my abuse with me. Like it or not, my abuse had made me the person I am today. Kinder, gentler, more compassionate. It also made me stronger, more resilient, and insightful. And sometimes, the abuse made me jaded and hard.” #truth •
