A serial Artprenuer and this is my life❤

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

When I designed this large living room in Abuja, I wanted to bring together European design and beautiful African art.

Here are the five design choices that shaped the room:

1. A warm, vibrant palette — burnt orange unifies the space, bringing warmth and energy.
2. A refined mix of elements — silver objects sit alongside African antiques and art, creating an unexpected dialogue between different traditions.
3. Large-scale art — two oversized artworks create strong focal points and have greater impact here than a collection of smaller pieces.
4. An iconic design reference — the black modernist-inspired chairs introduce structure and contrast without overpowering the room.
5. Colour used with restraint — art and a few carefully chosen accents add personality without making the space feel busy.

Together, they create an elegant, light-filled room where cultures, periods and design traditions come together naturally.

The art collection features works by Bruce Onobrakpeya, Obi Nwaegbe and Millicent Osumuo.

Save this as inspiration for your own mix of styles.
