For the last month and a half, we’ve been pouring our hearts into planning the Backpacks & Big Dreams Back to School Bash, and today was one of those moments that reminded me why we do this. Today, I finally carved out time in my schedule to count every single supply, check how many backpacks have already been stuffed, and figure out how many we still have left to fill.

Y’all… WE HAVE OVER 200 BACKPACKS that will be given away this Sunday, July 26th at 3:00 PM! 🙌🏾🎉

That’s over 200 students who will walk into the new school year feeling prepared, confident, and supported by their community. This event is for kids of ALL ages, and it doesn’t matter what school district they attend, we want every child to start the school year with what they need.

Mississippi has one of the highest childhood poverty rates in the nation, with nearly 1 in 4 school-aged children living in poverty, making access to basic school supplies a real challenge for many families. Nationwide, educators report that more than half of students start school without all of the supplies they need, which is exactly why community events like this matter so much.

A huge thank you to @theeryjackson and @_jtthomas_ for helping make this vision come to life, and an even bigger THANK YOU to every sponsor, donor, business, volunteer, and community member who contributed supplies, backpacks, monetary donations, food, jumpers, and resources. This wouldn’t be possible without you.

Jackson, we’re ready! Let’s make sure every child walks into the school year knowing that their community believes in them.
