Thank you viola friends for another exciting concert with @tanglinorchestra

Tonight was such exhilaration with Beethoven's Egmont Overture, Mozart's Jupiter Symphony and Rimsky-Korsakov's epic Scheherazade.

Everytime before the concert with all the aches from rehearsals and worrying about parts, I tell myself I'm never going to do this again, time to take a break after this.

Post concert, we're all high, and I'm so looking forward to the next one. It's always the same high. And that's what keeps us going.

But it's truly hard work and time. Estimating 10 rehearsals prior (say 4hrs including travel time) (40hrs!!) not counting own self practice, it's easily 50+hrs spent per concert! My brain recalculates this could be time to complete almost two C-dramas that I'm so crazy about now. 🤣

I first played Scheherazade in 2012 with Braddell Heights Symphony Orchestra when the late Adrian Tan first led us as music director. I had just bought a new viola in 2011 and was not great at reading my notes... this was so tough then! But it's come full circle, playing this piece again, has brought back wonderful memories! 😊

Merry Christmas from Tanglin Symphony Orchestra's viola gang! We performed with the fantastic choirs from Eunoia Junior College, the ONE Chamber Choir, as well as tenor Jonathan Charles Tay. What a fun concert with friends and families in the audience who were all 'forced' to stand and sing along 🎶🙌😉 hahaha! Kudos to a very charismatic conductor, Mr Michael Holiday.

One of the many highlights of the recent super busy week was joining @tanglinorchestra's Christmas jam open rehearsal with food and mulled wine 🍷. What a treat!
