POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED
Well, that’s a wrap on another year at Popcorn Frights Film Festival! This year truly felt like it was programmed for me. Between some killer new features (the closing night film ‘Drag’ was awesome, other standouts include ‘Colony,’ ‘Unholy Night’ and Eric Zaldivar wonderful doc ‘Best Served Cold: How a Revenge Film was Buried for Decades.’), screening perhaps my favorite film of all time ‘The Shawshank Redemption’ along with ‘Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey’ with the great William Sadler in attendance. Hearing incredible stories from the talented and hilarious Michael Ironside alongside screenings of ‘Total Recall’ and ‘Scanners.’ The first ever (as far as I’m aware!) shadowcast of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ w/ the original directors cut ending (shoutout Erynn Dalton for a job well done!!!). Seeing ‘Polyester’ for the first time in Odorama as John Waters intended. A live commentary of ‘Sleepaway Camp’ from the wonderful and kind Felissa Rose. It was hit after hit after hit this year. Michael Ironside ended his ‘Scanners’ Q&A yesterday by talking about how important it is that everyone at the fest has found their tribe, and that it’s something that needs to be cherished and maintained. Even though I’m only a part-time Floridian, this fest runs in my blood, and I couldn’t be more thankful for it. Cheers to and Marc along with the rest of the staff (Mercy, Luvy and all of the people over at Savor Cinema!). I’m so proud of the fest that we put on, and already can’t wait until next year!
