Revisiting this collaboration with my good friend Milton Suggs @miltonsuggs was incredibly rewarding. Full YouTube video is linked in my bio 🙌🏿

Almost ten years ago, I premiered several arrangements of Milton’s compositions based on the poetry of Paul Laurence Dunbar. This past November, we returned to several of these pieces with the Paradise Theatre Big Band LIVE at @detroitsymphony Orchestra Hall to a nearly sold out audience. Really excited to share the full recording of “Dreams” from this concert!

RUDY VAN GELDER STUDIOS! 🎙️

It was such a joy to record “A New Beat,” at @rudyvangelderstudio with “Gen Y!”

Thanks to @randycolephoto for capturing the magic of that day. We even recorded with a particular time bracket similar to the masters of this music when they recorded their albums for Blue Note Records.

12 Noon start time and we finished by 430p, and made a lot of music with an inspiring audience who joined us for a few “in-studio,” tracks.

Download “A New Beat,” today from @cellarlive on all streaming platforms.

Happy birthday to @misterbain! The other, behind the scenes, member of the podcast who lends his audio-visual expertise to help make it happen. Also a fantastic singer!
