Interview 75 out now! I had a lovely chat a few weeks ago with author Mima Tipper about her new book, Channeling Marilyn. It's a fun story about a Greek American teenager who makes contact with the spirit of Marilyn Monroe to help guide her through playing a leading role in her school play. We met up at Uncommon Coffee in Essex and enjoyed some nice drinks. Check out her books and the show notes at VermontTalks.com/75

Publication date: June 2, 2026
320 pages, Paperback

Lexa Donovan has always preferred blending into the background. So when she’s unexpectedly cast as the lead in her high school’s production of Bus Stop, panic quickly replaces excitement. Playing the glamorous Cherie feels impossible for someone who doesn’t see herself as confident, beautiful, or destined for the spotlight.

Everything changes when the spirit of Marilyn Monroe appears with an offer to help Lexa prepare for the role. What follows is a delightful mix of supernatural comedy, theater mishaps, romance and unexpected life lessons. As Lexa navigates rehearsals, complicated feelings and growing stage fright, both she and Marilyn discover that they’re searching for something much deeper than a successful performance.

One of the novel’s greatest strengths is its celebration of self-acceptance. Lexa’s journey isn’t about changing who she is, it’s about recognizing her own worth. Her growth feels authentic, encouraging and relatable for anyone who’s ever doubted themselves or felt they didn’t fit society’s expectations.

If you enjoy coming-of-age stories filled with lovable characters and a little supernatural sparkle, Channeling Marilyn is a fun and uplifting read that reminds us confidence isn’t about becoming someone else, it’s about embracing who we’ve been all along.

My amazing friend and @vcfawcya classmate @mimatip has just launched her new YA novel CHANNELING MARILYN into the world!! It’s hilarious, charming, and delightfully offbeat. I can’t wait to dive deeper into it this week! 💋💄🩷

While I’ve watched Mima work on this book throughout its many stages for many years, as FATE would have it, she’s released it JUST in time to celebrate MARILYN MONROE’S 100th birthday!! 🎉🎂🌸

You can order copies on her website (just Google MIMA TIPPER)...spread the word. ENJOY! For readers of ALL ages. (And most especially for the favorite YA readers and theatre/fantasy lovers in your life…)🎭🩷💄

BIG LOVE and CONGRATS to Mima!! Sure do love you. 📝📝📝 (16-year-writing-retreat soulmate!) 💗

“A playful supernatural coming-of-age tale with an impressive undercurrent of real heart.”—Kirkus
