🎶 WINDING OUR WAY THROUGH MODERN CLASSICS! 🎶

On Tuesday, we were delighted to welcome @helicopterwinds to St Pancras for an eclectic programme celebrating the colour, character and versatility of wind chamber music! 🌬️✨

🎼 FROM BALLOONS TO HELICOPTERS TO CAR CHASES! 🚁🚗

The programme took us on a musical journey through Richard Rodney Bennett’s wonderfully imaginative Travel Notes II, alongside vibrant works by Françaix, Goepfart and Bozza.

🎵 MEET HELICOPTER WINDS

Formed in 2025, Helicopter Winds is a London-based quartet of Guildhall School of Music and Drama graduates, bringing wind music to new audiences through concerts and community performances across London and the South East.

The group has benefited from coaching with renowned flautist Philippa Davies, whose chamber music credits include the Nash Ensemble and London Winds.

👏 A huge thank you to the quartet for sharing their talent with us!

Some photos from Snape Maltings and Aldeburgh

No photos of actual music happening because I was busy staring at/writing on scores.

I couldn't tag everyone on the last photo (tag limit or no account) but I'll list the remaining people are @paul_stgeorges , @ashley_s_z , @agnesvranceanu , Ben Pease Barton, and of course Colin Matthews.

Many thanks to Colin, @turnagetime , @grime_helen , @claireboothsings , and @jonathanbermanconductor for their valuable mentorship and advice on my new piece, and @mattw723 , @betsa_music , and @singsthings for running things so well!

I'm looking forward to returning to hear these excellent musicians perform my completed piece and those of the other composers next year!

September got off to a brilliant start with the @brittenpearsarts Composing and Performing programme!! 🎶💛

It was amazing to meet so many amazing musicians and play so much incredible (and sometimes completely mad) repertoire!!

Swipe along to see the total of SIXTEEN mutes that the brass section needed, featuring the legendary @irisrushbrooke and her equally legendary piccolo trumpet 🎺

Sea swimming and some beautiful runs also made it into the picture and I now completely understand the Aldeburgh hype - can’t wait to return next summer for the Aldeburgh Festival!! 🤩🌊☀️

Organizing a new summer course from scratch was a great challenge I shared with @valeriacurtibassoon !

I loved having to think about small details, anticipate people needs, find funny and creative ways to solve problems, organization stuff I normally never do...
-> in order to give the students the best experience we could offer them!

Now Iam happy to announce, it was a big success!

Thank you so much to all of the students who trusted us for this first edition. To Valeria who did so much, opened her entire world to us and always had many creative ideas 🌟
To her parents who hosted delicious dinners every night and gave a cozy tone to this course 💖
To the host families who warmly receive the students in their homes💛
With a Special mention to mine -> Ursula❤️
And to the gorgeous Brugg music school who provided us a perfect place to hold the event! 🙏

Bravo everyone,
Can't wait to see you all again,
Can't wait to share other/new/next adventure with you dearest Valeria 💖!
