side note: the re-release of Born Slippy (Nuxx) on the Trainspotting Soundtrack also turned 30 this year. So did the Prodigy’s Firestarter, which came out on July 1, 1996 and is like the most Leo song there is, but Born Slippy is my GOAT dance track.

While I’m posting our Friendsgiving celebration a month late, it’s never too late to be grateful for all we have. As the year comes to a close, I want to thank our creative community and chosen family for the love shared in 2024.

At this year’s Friendsgiving, @JPBernbach, @LightAllAround, and I welcomed 60 friends from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France, Holland, Iran, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, Sweden, the States, and Vietnam.

Every hello and hug throughout the evening reminded me that America is more WE than ME and that artists are our most influential citizens—the record keepers of our humanity.

Our family donated to @RaicesTexas (raicestexas.org) to continue fighting for the America we envision and the freedoms of immigrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking people and families. BIG LOVE to all!

5 sessions meeting on Fridays from 10am-12:30pm 👒🌻🍓

All experience levels welcome. Join artist, educator and therapist, Jeffery Sun Young Park, in a guided series to cultivate a personal creative practice through building ceramic sculptures. Over the five sessions, participants will explore different handbuilding techniques including coils, slabs and using molds to create personal pieces. Each session will consist of class dialogue, group clay time, individual practice and creation time.

Students will learn about drying time and its integral role in assembling sculptural pieces. Jeff will teach building in parts, utilizing templates and molds, techniques for piecing parts together, clean up and finishing. With Jeff’s guidance and support, participants will begin creating the steps towards planning and prepping before creation time. In-between classes participants will have the opportunity to sketch and think of ideas. It’s encouraged that participants come into class with a few ideas of pieces they would like to make and a sketch book.

Jeffery Sun Young Park LMFT #108456 (b. 1987, Los Angeles, CA) is a first generation queer Corean* based in Los Angeles. As a licensed marriage and family therapist Park works within a practice that champions BI and POC, queer, trans and gender non binary people. Through his own personal journey for self care he discovered ceramics. Park’s ceramic work is hand built using stoneware clay that is mid, high, soda and raku fired.

*The spelling of Corea with a C is the original spelling before colonization. As a Corean person, this spelling represents Park’s hope for a unified Corea

Zoe was teaching Mimi how to make dumplings for us and the grandparents today.
As we’re saying good bye to 2020, we’re just very grateful to have been safe, healthy, grown closer with family and friends, learned quite a few things and shared a lot of home cooked meals together with our bubbles of people. Hope to burst out of our bubbles soon in 2021 so I can shake your hands or hug you with no reservation. Cheers. #dumplings #homecookedmeal #kidscooking
