The National & Friends. Kursaal, Donostia, 18 October.

(Delighted with these)

Their first full-band gig in two years closing out AB100. It was a wild ride. Shout out to the venue staff for being very chill, the crowd, who were brilliant. Matt took a few long walks, I wondered if the mic lead was to find his way back!

Happy 50th birthday, Dessners! 🎈🎂 🎈

Thank you 🐴 & @hicksonmary

San Sebastián,

I fell in love with your charm 27 years ago. It was such a treat to be back for @__ab100__

To experience the city and the amazing music from so many insanely talented artists was really a transcendent experience.

I will forever be grateful ✨

To coordinate leaving work and kids and life at this age and stage is an undertaking.. I’m so proud of us we did it! Happy Birthday month to us @kellybickle 💞

“Go there, you know where, I will meet you there… Go there, you know where, I will meet you there…”
Are musical parties the best kind of parties? 🥳✨💛 To celebrate Aaron and Bryce Dessner’s 50th birthday (which was in April), they decided to mark the occasion in the middle of October, in the Basque Country, with several friends… and what a beautiful, fun time it was!
I loved the concept of going to a gig where you don’t really know which songs you are going to hear live or sing along to, which artists you will appreciate even more… or who the ultimate musical guest of the evening will be. Spoiler alert: it was Michael Stipe! 🥹💙 I feel like his mere presence gave the whole crowd chills. For me, the highlight was a wonderful version of the song ‘Long Way Back’ to close the night.
Anyway, here is a look back at the night, going from the end to the beginning. I would like to thank the Dessner brothers, Mina Tindle, Ben Howard, Max Porter, Anaïs Mitchell, Ragnar Kjartansson, Ye Vagabonds, Pomme, Eñaut Elorrieta, Matt Berninger, Michael Stipe and Richard Reed Parry.
This night was truly like a birthday gift for me too, and guess what? Today is my birthday, so I guess in a way, it was! 🤭✨💛🙏🏻
