POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Tomorrow marks 6 years since being told I had 6 months to live.

So … bloods done, Mr Hilmi’s had a feel of my neck, and I’ve just picked up a bacon roll from the Glasgow Royal Infirmary café to celebrate.

Verdict: still not dead.

Side effects of survival: fatigue and a head lice outbreak in the Crompton household (not me of course. They’d need crampons).

Six years on. Not self-help. Just slightly more helpful than doing nothing. 🥓

What a privilege to see Dressers @citizenstheatre. A one act play that takes us back to Motherwell 1984 and the brutal world of football casuals … or ‘dressers’ as they were known.

Phenomenal script by @marc.pye1 (brilliantly played by David McGowan) that hit every emotional button. Beautifully directed by @sarahmccardie to let the story sing.

Can’t wait to see the next phase. Huge congrats to everyone involved in making this happen.

And thank you for the incredible coffee table book. Gloriously chronicles what was happening and how fashion played a bigger role than football.

About a year ago I found these two after @paulbeesonactor was on @rose_condo_poet s podcast.

Two people (Paul and Lee, who have lived a bit, had their struggles, had their good times...who decided to get together and make a podcast about mental health. Without offering advice, without being experts, just being two people who have lived a bit. And they try different things, some they believe in, some they think are a bit, in their words - "woohoo".
I, like the idiot I am, started back at episode one and worked my way to current day.

But id just like to say, it is amazing and I find them entertaining, most of their guests amazing (but it is good to not live in an echo chamber), and they have kept me company on many a day of working alone.

Give them a listen, usual places. If you don't like it, blame someone else, if you do, I'll take the credit thank you very much

This wee guy shows up every day to say hello. He’s been a massively comforting presence and constant in my life the last few weeks. He reminds me to keep showing up, even when things are tough. Thanks Rob ♥️

Another cushion … incoming.

Erin asked if I loved Izzy more because I’d made her a cushion, but not Erin. I tried to explain that Izzy had merely asked me to make her one, and she hadn’t 🤷🏼

Anyway, that explanation didn’t wash so I made this cushion for Erin … very colourful but reeks of the stench of guilt and emotional blackmail.

Thanks so much to @mindcakepodcast for having me on to chat about Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA)… what it is, why it’s not the same as truancy, and how to support a child who feels overwhelmed by school.

If school has suddenly become a struggle, this episode is a great place to start!

We explored:
✔️ Why avoidance offers short-term relief but long-term distress
✔️ How parents can validate emotions and build resilience
✔️ Practical strategies to gently support school return
✔️ The importance of self-care and co-regulation for parents, too

Whether your child is full-on refusing, anxious every morning, or just quietly dreading school, this episode offers guidance, clarity, and a bit of reassurance for the year ahead.

Listen wherever you get your podcasts (link in bio) and be sure to give @‌mindcakepodcast a follow for more thoughtful, honest conversations on mental health.

Dec photo dump 🎄🥂✨💕

From weddings to markets, festive crafts and everything in between ✨

The last few weeks have been busy in the best way. Now I’m slowing down before Christmas, spending a lot more time at home and soaking it all in.

Christmas feels even more special each year as Otto gets older. Now he’s 3 he really understands what’s going on, so I’m super excited for Christmas Day ✨

Swipe right for a little peek at what I’ve been up to lately!

I had a wicked time at @mbswellbeing on Saturday held at the N.E.C in Birmingham. I didn’t take many pictures as there was so much to do, experience and see. It was the festivals 10th anniversary! Very special.

It was my first time at the MBS but I had been to the venue before in my jewellery designer days when I went to a wholesale show. There was a biker show running along side which I was naturally guided to by stewards so I must have given biker vibes 🤣

Big thank you to my Podcast pal @mr_crompers of @mindcakepodcast for gifting my ticket. It was fantastic to meet the Cakers in person, @buglady000 and @hannahtaylor_cosmic_princess (amazing badass women)and talk all things mental health, spirituality (although Lee’s reactive expression cracked me up at times!) and podcast life.

The highlights for me was talks from @lawofattractionchangedmylife who I saw back in June at @mani.fest.newc and @rebeccacampbell_author who is oracle card royalty in the new age world 💚 I learnt loads! left a few flyers here and there but mostly stayed in the Temple of Truth with @thehausofwisdom hearing about all kinds of wonderful healers.

It was super busy, which was great to see but I was frazzled after. I slept for 12 hours straight afterwards!

And I thought of baking bread throughout the day 🤣🤣🤣 #addictedtosourdough

Next weekend- Witchfest! @witchfest_coa there is still tickets on the door!
I’m volunteering again so do say hi if you see me :)
I Hope December slows down 🫠
