YOU’VE BEEN SUMMONED. ⚖️

Tomorrow, Kilkenny Law Festival officially gets underway.

Three days of big questions, live podcasts, crime, justice, AI, journalism, human rights, film, a few arguments, and a few pints afterwards.

If you’ve been following along and thinking “this sounds interesting, but is a law festival really for me?” come and find out.

You don’t need to know anything about law. You don’t need to agree with anyone. You just need to be curious.

You can beat a criminal charge. It's much harder to beat the Criminal Assets Bureau.

Houses. Cars. Offshore accounts. How does the State actually take a gangster's money, and why doesn't it need a conviction to do it?

Frank Cassidy, CAB's first legal officer, joins Aideen McQueen to explain how it works, and where the line sits between clever law enforcement and something more troubling.

And that was Salon du Chat at Electric Picnic 2026! One of our favourite weekends of the year, where the Piquant team comes together to bring Salon du Chat to life (yes, that is Kevin cartwheeling)

A project that’s been bringing us plenty of joy for many many years now! And what’s Electric Picnic without a few random chats with new people, and a bit of rain thrown in?

This day last week I had the enormous privilege of sharing a stage @mindfieldie @epfestival as a guest of the phenomenal @jbgoodtome who was in conversation with the equally phenomenal @maiadunphy

I got to share my first ever published poem 'Doggie' which featured in Anthology 2 from @thepoetrysdeadpodcast last December.

It was a glorious day in Stradbally. Then it rained. A lot. 😟

Big thank you to the mate of @katriona_osullivan who took my phone to film this 🫶

Another one from @epfestival @mindfieldie @word_stage_ep - with a little public information announcement about how I discovered the other week that if your child(ren) are donor conceived you have to birth them in the same country as you get them put in. Or else the non carrying parent cannot be on the birth certificate!

This led to a panic last week when I had to change from Derry to Letterkenny hospital at 23 weeks pregnant with twins!

Followed by a poem which first appeared in @apricot.press.lit about how much better things are (in some places) for queer people

Family Matters - @skyenewman__ __
A @leemorandj Edit.

This year at Electric picnic, I was given the opportunity by @mindfieldie to allow two young lads starting off in their music and producing careers to come to Electric Picnic to see how the pros work and to get a bit of life inspiration. I didnt even know these lads but came across some of their work on Instagram and I know that with a bit of mentoring and encouragement, these lads can be massive.
It was the their first festival...and who happened to be playing at EP this year? The woman herself, Skye.

The song in this video is an edit of Skye Newman's gorgeous song, Family Matters (Deffo check out the original version). This track needed a video in order to be seen in the algorithms. So on my 5 year old phone I shot this.

Please give Lee a follow and check out his other work on Soundcloud.
