After a Magnum or similar Lidl equivalent, Mary loves to have a sit down and listen to Punk and Post Punk.
.
Subhumans - The day the country died
URRRG!!!-!Post Punk compilation
X-ray specs - Germ Free Adolescence
Crass - Stations of the Crass
Mum's Porridge - Mum's Porridge
.
Actually, she doesn't really, and being in on the joke she agreed to read some lines from Mother Earth by Crass, as has been requested by followers of @cooperinho1.
.
However, Mary does possess a punk spirit and a history of direct action. In the 80's she was supportive of the Greenham peace women and would regularly attend demonstrations in solidarity. Including a famous 'hands around the base' protest against American imperialism and the storage of nuclear weapons at the base. Living nearby I can recall hearing the air raid sirens being tested and pooing myself that I would not be able to finish my Curly Curly in four minutes.
.
My mum also inspired me to a lifelong boycott of McDonalds, due to taking me as a 10 year old to protest outside the eatery. Mary, an early adopter of vegetarianism, for environmental and animal welfare concerns, now has eased off and enjoys a sustainably reared pork chop now and then
.
So all of the above is true, apart from the Anarcho punk bit. But just in case you thought 'what a lovely cuddly granny', remember a whole life has been lived to the full and if she wants a Magnum, some Libby's and a kipper then I think she deserves it.
