It’s a wrap! 🙌🏻🌈

We have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our creative mindfulness practices at @westfieldlondon and @westfieldstratfordcity Happy Games this summer.

Hard work but incredibly rewarding connecting with around 200 children over a four day period 💛

Huge thanks to my incredible team of helpers for making this happen 🙏🏻

➡️We also run our creative mindfulness workshops in schools.
Why not ask your child’s school to invite us in!

Happy weekend everyone ☀️😀

With children returning to school this week it’s only natural that we try to catch up on phone calls, to-do lists, work deadlines & everything else that was put on hold when the kids were at home.

Whilst of course we need to get these things done, let’s remember that we don’t need them all done in one go!

➡️Instead of ‘task overload’ (which can cause stress - not what we need right now), being ‘kind to your mind’ will allow you to: de-stress, re-energise & be more productive in the long run.

✅ Do try my:

🧘‍♀️ ABC (3-step /3 min.) breathing
☕️ Tea meditation
🌿 Waking the Energy (Tai Chi)

➡️you can find these practices on my IGTV, also on my website (link in bio) 💕

A fun & empowering mindfulness-based activity sheet to help kids manage ALL feelings & emotions as they prepare for the return to school.

✔️ of course parents are experiencing mixed feelings too; this activity sheet will help you and your child to work through any fears or tricky emotions together
✔️the 3 different pointers will help your child identify how they are feeling. This is empowering.
✔️ the finger tracing element is known to help children relax, focus & feel calm (when tracing the rectangle encourage your child to breathe in on the short sides & out on the long sides).
✔️affirmations promote positive thoughts, self-belief & resilience
✔️the heart activities promote compassion.
✅go to link in bio (click resources/ videos) for: hot chocolate breathing, tummy breathing, Superhero mudra & to download this activity sheet.

I hope this is helpful 😊💕

⬆️⬇️The rollercoaster of life and the feelings & emotions that go with it.
Thank you @mombrain.therapist for sharing the wise words of @lrknost

Here is a simple mindfulness practice I created for kids which relates to:
🔅breathing in the amazing
🔅holding on through the awful
🔅relaxing during the ordinary
⁣⁣
At different moments throughout the day (try the start, middle & end), ask your child which colour they’re feeling (eg happy might be yellow/ pink-loved or blue-sad).

🟡if they’re feeling yellow or pink suggest breathing IN that amazing colour to enjoy the feeling. Repeat x3. Try saying “let’s breathe in yellow (pause)and breathe out yellow; maybe we can spread this wonderful feeling to others!”
➡️invite them to place their hand on their heart and notice how their body feels (perhaps warm, relaxed)

🔵 if they’re feeling blue or red (perhaps sad or angry) invite your child to breathe THROUGH that colour (to feel calmer or better). “Breathe in red- hold the breath, feel the heat - & as you breathe out release the feeling by blowing it away. Repeat x3
⁣⁣
⁣⁣⚪️ at the end of the day encourage your child to simply observe their breath as they breathe in and out....in and out....this encourages relaxation. To keep their hands engaged, place them on their tummy and feel it rise and fall in time with their breathing.

🌈 associating colours with feelings & emotions is especially useful for younger (or more reserved) kids who may be experiencing big feelings but find it hard describing them.
