Did you know…

Most adults can’t remember the last time they played freely.

Not “checked their phone while technically at the park.”
Not “watched the kids play.”

Actually played.

The kind where you laugh too hard.
Forget what time it is.
Make ridiculous noises.
Pretend the floor is lava.
Become a flying unicorn for absolutely no reason.

Kids can bring us back to that in about 4 minutes flat 😂

That’s one of the beautiful things about family yoga.

Children arrive ready to play.
Adults arrive trying to stay organised.

And then somewhere between the partner poses, giggles, wobbling, and pretending to be animals… adults remember something important:

Joy is not childish.
Play is not a waste of time.
Connection is not optional for a healthy heart.

Maybe growing up was never supposed to mean growing serious all the time.

Maybe we were always meant to keep a little bit of playground magic alive 🌈

Tag someone who needs to play more and adult a little less 😄

The community came out for the Dia De Los Muertos Parade organized by @riverviewfarmersmarket at the Riverview Fisk Park to honor departed family members and friends. In celebration of the Day of the Dead, there were dancers, a mariachi band and activities for kids.

This event is also made possible by a grant from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund and support from @riverviewfarmersmarket @educationalartsteam @cancopark @jcartandculture

Yesterday, with just 17 days till Election Day, I joined @knittygrittyjc for a carpool from Jersey City to canvass in Bucks County, PA. Surrounded by beautiful fall foliage, we knocked doors in a swing congressional district in arguably the most important swing state in the country. Our next event will be phone banking on Tuesday at 6pm at Andco (201 Montgomery Street, JC). Follow @knittygrittyjc and @jc4harris to stay up-to-date with future volunteer opportunities to #getoutthevote 🗳️

Second photo: friendly stoop cat! One of the best parts of canvassing is meeting people’s pets. 🥰
