Today officially marks the 15th anniversary of States’ debut album, Room to Run.

Released on October 18, 2011, Room to Run introduced an exciting new chapter for the American alternative rock band featuring former members of Lydia and Copeland. Produced by Aaron Sprinkle and recorded at Compound Recording Studios in Seattle, Washington, the album showcased the band’s distinctive fusion of alternative rock, indie pop, and melodic pop rock.

Featuring vocalist Mindy White, guitarists Bryan and Stephen Laurenson, bassist Dean Lorenz, and drummer Jonathan Bucklew, the record combined atmospheric instrumentation, layered guitars, infectious melodies, and emotionally expressive vocals. Rather than revisiting the sounds of their previous projects, States embraced collaborative songwriting and experimentation to establish their own musical identity.

Following their 2010 debut EP, Line ’Em Up, the album was initially released independently before receiving an expanded reissue through Tooth & Nail Records in June 2012, featuring additional material, acoustic recordings, demos, and remixes. Interestingly, the album arrived just two weeks after Lydia released their third studio album, Paint It Golden, on October 4, 2011, highlighting an unusual period in which Mindy White's former band and her new musical project both released albums within the same month.

With touring opportunities alongside acts such as Circa Survive, States continued building their audience while establishing a distinctive presence in the alternative music scene. Fifteen years later, Room to Run remains a memorable introduction to the band’s creative vision and musical chemistry.

Periodically I have prints made of my work to have a physical portfolio for myself. Usually I select just a handful of my favorites from shoots that stood out creatively or meant something to me personally. In this digital age I believe the tangible nature of physical prints leaves a unique impact on the beholder. Here is a small sample of some of the prints of my work. You may see some people you recognize.

this lineup of Lydia was the more signature lineup of the band, consisted of @mindywhitexo @leightonantelman @ethankoozer @doctor_arroyo @_craigtaylor and Steve McGraw. This lineup released the 2008 album Illuminate with producer @mattmalpass with 2 hit singles. Sadly this lineup didn’t last long

So where are they now
Leighton is still with Lydia with a new lineup
Ethan is now playing with @gatesmusic
Steve is now playing under the Saturn hands
Mindy White formed a new band States
Evan is now living in Australia.
Can we please reunite these 6-some and make another Lydia album.
