My first film ever to sell to Netflix, and TODAY is the last day to catch it there (in 100+ countries). Watched over 400,000 hours on the platform in just the first quarter it was released – blows my mind.
Directing this doc was one of the most creatively fulfilling things I’ve ever done - diving into the NFT world at the exact moment it was both exploding and imploding, following the artists, the believers, the skeptics. Having it reach a global audience? Incredible.
Thank you to everyone who watched, sent DMs, told friends about it, and and all the artists in front of and behind the camera with me.
And don’t worry icymi – it will still be available to rent/own on Apple TV and Amazon, and may be streaming on a new platform soon… 👀

First time being credited as a Montador!

When Minted screened at the Barcelona D’Art Film Festival, I had the pleasure of being interviewed for Metrópolis - the longest running arts and culture show on Spanish television. The episode recently aired and I think they did a swell job representing the film. They also dubbed me with a suave VO :)

Swipe for the full segment. Will put a link to the whole episode in my bio as well.

Five years ago today, an NFT sold for $69 million. I made a documentary about it and sold it to Netflix (for… not quite as much).

@beeple_crap became the third highest-selling living artist of all time, overnight.

But what really happened in the NFT gold rush?

Find out the true story in Minted: The Rise (and Fall?) of the NFT, now on @netflix

Here’s a peek behind the scenes as we made @mintedmovie — now streaming on Netflix, and available to rent or own on Apple TV and Amazon Prime!

Over the past couple of months we've had our First Film Fridays where we have screened projects from local filmmakers.

Today we are taking things back to our First Film Friday screening of the documentary "Minted" by Nicholas Bruckman and the film "The Security Guard" by Wilfred LaSalle. 🎬

Thank you BronxNet for putting this video together and be sure to check out our next screening on Friday October 3rd of "Ben and Suzanne, A Reunion In 4 Parts". 🍿

Earlier this year I sat down with crypto publication Decential for a longform convo about @mintedmovie — from working with @dandeacon on the score to telling the stories of incredible artists like @beeple_crap, @justinaversano, @callmelatasha, @kinamatahari & more.

“It’s not an NFT explainer,” Bruckman told me recently. “It does that in the process, but at a much bigger level [it’s about] how artists can lead the way for how technologies are used. How can artists make a living without selling out or without compromising their values? Fundamentally, that’s what the film is about.”

Big thanks to @voyce.box for the thoughtful feature 🙏

Had a great time talking with Bryan Abrams from @motionpictures The Credits about the wild ride of making Minted — from shooting across three continents to navigating a story that changed by the day.

The piece is live — link in bio to read!

All of the feature films I’ve directed have aired on PBS. It’s where my first documentary La Americana found a national audience, and where both Not Going Quietly and Minted broadcast to over 97% of American households. It’s one of the few places where stories that matter still get shown to audiences that would otherwise never know about them.

Today, Congress voted to eliminate all federal funding for public media, including PBS and NPR. This isn’t about my films, or the super passionate friends I’ve worked with at PBS who believe in this mission. It’s about whether we want to live in a country that still supports the arts. Where storytellers have a platform to tell meaningful stories. That gives audiences something outside the profit-driven algorithm of the streamers.

We can still support public media, with our dollars – and votes.
