Harvest & Hollow asked what we carry into the dark, what we return to the earth, and what still remains beneath it all.

Thank you to every poet who brought their grief, longing, memory, and devotion to this turning of the season.

Congratulations to our finalists and honorable mentions. 🍂🕯️

A note on our finalist selections: Verse of the Moon is not a competition. Our goal is to highlight new writers every week whose work takes us deeper into shadow, healing, grief, transformation, memory, and devotion.

We believe everyone deserves a place at the table. We also believe being witnessed deeply is different from being told everything is the same.

Every prompt, comment, selection, layout, and graphic on this page is curated and created by real people, with intention — not generated by AI and passed off as community.

We are here to create a healing space rooted in inclusivity, transformation, and love for creation.

I missed their deadline but still wanted to share...

Seven Sins, Six Senses

Pride—
my joy, my pride,
how I love looking at you.
Perfection in my eyes,
a beauty I could admire
until the stars grew tired of shining.

Envy—
I see it in others
when they hear you call my name.
That quiet envy in their eyes
as your voice reaches me.
The sound of it
drives me wild.

Gluttony—
so wild that I have to taste you,
to savor every moment,
every lingering sweetness
until my appetite for you
knows no end.
Gluttony has nothing
on my hunger for you.

Greed—
even your scent
wraps itself around me,
lingering on my skin
and haunting my thoughts.
I want every trace of you,
every memory you leave behind—
and still, somehow,
it never feels like enough.

Wrath—
my fury would know no mercy
if I could no longer reach you,
if these hands were forbidden
from finding your skin.
For the thought of losing
your warmth beneath my fingertips
would awaken something fierce in me.

Lust—
every sense betrays me—
your sight, your sound,
your taste, your scent, your touch.
Desire rises like a flame,
but I don't call it sinful.
Not when what burns between us
is something I call love.

Sloth—
and I'd gladly surrender to it.
Let the world turn without us.
Let the hours disappear.
I'd happily lie beside you in bed,
wrapped in warmth and silence,
doing nothing but existing with you.
Sloth has nothing on me—
I'd simply call it
being exactly where I want to be.

Seven deadly sins.
Six senses.
One love that somehow
makes them all feel holy.

This was meant to be for a prompt The Sixth Sin,
6 senses - 6 sins but I went way of script here. I'm not great at prompts 😂. Anyway, good morning insta!

Konishiwa, Ohayo dear poets. We hope you had a lovely weekend.
🔥Both the dragon’s image and the word “FIRE,” hold a very different meaning for the people of Japan. They are not evil, fire-breathing dragons, as depicted in films. The dragon is cause for celebration. With that said, thank you to your hosts: @meenu_lodha_writes @soulful_poetry_from_the_heart @davisjesssica @poems.j779 @a.m.poetry25 🩷🌸🫶🏻
🔥Winners of our Collum Lune: “FIRE.”🔥

Congratulations to all of you and to all who contributed to making this a most inspiring prompt, filled with a diverse plethora of creative entries.
