$Here’s the problem with that statement. It makes people feel like they’re strong enough to handle everything that gets thrown their way. Often, God uses overwhelming situations to help us recognize our need for HIM, to help us rely on HIS strength and abilities - because on our own, we are definitely NOT able to handle everything that we walk through. The verse that gets people tripped up is 1 Corinthians 10:13 that includes, “God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.” He won’t let us be tempted beyond our ability, but He will allow struggles that bring us to our knees in dependence upon Him. That is such a blessing. When we recognize we are NOT capable of handling what happens, we feel so much less pressure to try and handle it ourselves! If you are struggling right now in your marriage, with a child, in your workplace, in a relationship or ministry, with health, or anywhere at all, know that He is able, where you are not. He offers us opportunities to rest in Him, trust in Him, rely on Him, and He proves Himself faithful every single time. Next time you feel tempted to say that God won’t give you more than you can handle - remember that He’s given you a way out of that temptation, but He has definitely given you more than you can handle! How have you experienced God’s sufficiency in your lack? I would love to hear in the comments! $I have been down this road myself. While we do need to listen to wise teaching by those who have extensively studied and learned the truth of God’s Word, we also need to be intentional about learning Bible literacy for ourselves. Reading ONLY what someone else thinks, what they are interpreting, how they believe a passage should be applied, or what they think it says about God will lead us to get to know THEIR version of God. We need to make every effort to study God’s Word for ourselves, to allow Him to speak to us personally, give us instructions, and reveal Himself to us. It isn’t healthy to only read the Cliff’s Notes version of scripture. Some tips for beginning to study on your own: - Search “bible study methods” to learn about some of the different types (some examples are S.O.A.P., verse mapping, or homiletics) - Try each one, multiple times, until you get a better feel for which one seems to be a more natural way of study for you - Don’t feel confined to one method - if you feel led to use a different type of study for a particular passage, use it. If you feel like combining different parts of different methods as you study, do it. If you have questions or need guidance, please reach out to me! Do you have a favorite Bible study method? $This is important, and too many people get it wrong. Being a godly wife, respectful towards your husband, submissive in all things - does not include submitting to abuse. Jesus tells us the greatest commandment is love. Love seeks restoration. Love desires the soul be saved and to receive salvation through the blood of Christ. A husband who is being abusive is clearly separating themselves from Christ. To allow him to continue in that sin, making ourselves available to sin against us, is neither loving nor a godly response. At best, discussions need to be had and boundaries need to be set. At worst, separations may be required. Always, always, safety and protection are of utmost importance. If you feel you’re in an unsafe abusive situation, please seek help, find safe shelter, and seek professional guidance and counseling. If you are unsure whether you are in an abusive situation - because sometimes the world tells us we’re being “abused” when in reality, we’re simply being denied something we want but don’t actually need - I implore you to pray, study scripture, seek God’s wisdom, and talk to an older, godly woman who can give you biblical guidance. . . . . . \#truthrevealed #submissionisnotabuse #godlywife #christianwife #speaktruth #abuseisneverokay #christianmarriage #marriagetips #tipsforwives #ihelpwives #wifetips #encouragementforwives #helpforwives$
