We have @djmarkfarina’s ‘Subequatorial Edition’ mix tape digitised for your listening ahead of his return next Friday. Recorded back in 1994 in Phil Smart’s Bondi home, this is what Phil had to say about its creation.

“It was 1993 when I first encountered Mark Farina. I’d been travelling to DJ in San Francisco when Mark came over from Chicago to play for the first time. He totally blew everyone’s minds, DJs and dancer alike. We all realised we’d witnessed something extraordinary, and I knew I had to get him out to Australia.

I’d started a series of parties in Sydney called Organic, and in March of 1994 I brought Mark out to play. He stayed at my house in Bondi, and one day he decided to make a mix tape. Mark just popped a blank tape in the cassette deck, hit record and laid down this mix in one go!”

Head to the link in our bio and listen to this piece of history for yourself🔗
