Hello my lovelies, I was just notified that the original Domestic Blisster Zine account was suspended and taken down(!!!). I have since filed an appeal and have set up a backup account in the meantime, which you can find here @domestic_blisster_zine . I'm guessing this was likely a case of AI falsely flagging it, so fingers crossed it will be reinstated shortly 🤞 If you could follow the backup account that would be fantastic...just in case! I hate to tell you this but it’s all going to go wrong. It already is. No one is going to save us. No art or book or movie is going to turn the tide. No politician. No movement. Power corrupts absolutely. And the “good guys” just want to inherit the oil fields and the nuclear football. Climate disaster is past the point of no return. No one wants to give up their comfort. Their crumbs. Red pill. Blue pill. They’ll give you the same heartburn. I wonder if aliens or super computers will someday write about our ignorance and our complacency and our selfishness and just how cruel we’ve become in the face of mass extinction. You were debating about trans people while the planet melts. You were casually defending a g3n0c1dal entity while you were getting robbed. You were trying to be an influencer and came out a tool. You were sleeping. You and your little job and your little life. Don’t you want it all to mean something? Make no mistake, it is too late. But don’t you want to go out better than this?

Had so much joy making these. It’s always a privilege to work with incredibly talented artists who are genuinely excited to create with me. Some of y’all fetishize the burqa because you think it represents complete identity submission. Surrender to a dominant being. Erasure of thought and self. I’m looking at you, k!nk “community.” At the same time, even more of you villainize it because you’ve been conditioned to by the society we live in. When chosen, the burqa is actually pretty punk, a major identity statement, and My Body My Choice long before that was a western white feminist buzz phrase that often excludes intersectionality. It’s pretty cool to hold your body and your image sacred. It’s pretty cool to highlight attributes that don’t have to do with appearance. It’s pretty cool to wear your faith or convictions. It’s pretty cool to keep the cultural/Islam-adjacent tradition of this beautiful garment alive. I love it for its coverage and craftsmanship. I love it for how I feel when I wear it. Somehow full coverage makes me feel closer to God. And as a transperson, somehow I feel like it pulls my divine feminine soul out from under a body I don’t often feel at home in.

Broken is what they call the people who feel something. Wrong is what they call someone more real and authentic and found than they will ever be. If people make you feel crazy or lost, I can promise you are neither. You are who and where you should be.

Get an Americana cake made to sit on. Hold a corn dog 💋🍌 contest. Cover myself in ketchup mustard and c0ndoms. Make a PSA to encourage all true patriots to boot w0rship. Smoke big cigars in No Smoking Zones. Pretend to be really stupid. Throw up somewhere nice. FYI if I see you gushing over America’s greatness over the next few weeks, I’m blocking. We are in no place to be celebrating.
