There’s this idea going around called October Theory, that October is almost like a second New Year. A time when people experience unexpected changes, feel a new spark of motivation, or find themselves heading in a completely different direction. And after looking back at my camera roll from the past year, I am a total believer. What started with me sitting in the audience at Miss USA last October turned into a year I never could’ve imagined. And now that my 15-year dream has become a reality, this October has sparked an entirely new dream. One that has me ridiculously excited to see what the next 365 days have in store. I never expected hiring a stylist would be the best investment of my entire pageant journey. I will forever be grateful for the time, energy, and creativity Bryan and Miguel poured into my Miss USA experience, and for the incredible designers whose work I had the opportunity to wear and represent. This gown manifested my spot at Miss USA. I bought it the week after I didn’t win Miss Connecticut USA. At the time, I didn’t have a spot at Miss USA. I didn’t know if I would ever get another chance to compete. But the second I put this gown on, I had this overwhelming feeling that I was supposed to wear it on the Miss USA stage. So I bought it. Call it a risk. Call it a poor financial decision 😂 But to me, it felt like I was betting on something that hadn’t happened yet. knew this was my Miss USA gown before I knew I was going to Miss USA. The details are part of what made me fall in love with it. The entire gown reminds me of water, ever-changing and always in motion. From the water droplets along the hip, to the icicle crystals on the shoulder, to the waterfall of beads, every detail feels like movement. And something most people don’t know: this gown wasn’t custom made for me. It had previously been worn at Miss Universe Philippines, and I took so much pride in getting to give this piece of art its moment on the Miss USA stage.
