The Story, a play about storytelling and who gets to decide which version becomes the truth.

At its heart, this is a play about journalism, truth and who gets to control a narrative. Yvonne is a young Black journalist desperate to prove herself when she gets hold of what she thinks could be the story that finally gets her noticed.

I really loved the idea behind this play. We’re constantly being reminded that a story can change depending on who is telling it and when the story involves a Black community, the question of who gets to tell it and what they say, becomes even more interesting.

We see the same events from different perspectives, conversations overlap and information is constantly being passed from one person to another. It’s a clever concept, especially for a play about a journalist whose entire job is deciding what makes a story worth telling.

There are also some really interesting ideas around the legacy of the Civil Rights movement and the pressure to protect the progress that has been made.

I will say, the accents threw me off a little bit at first. There is something slightly weird about watching an entirely British cast speaking in American accents, especially when you know they are British 😂. But honestly, they did an excellent job and once I settled into it, I stopped noticing it as much.

The performances definitely helped keep me engaged. Letitia Wright gives Yvonne a determination that makes her incredibly watchable, even when she is making some very questionable decisions and statements .

Lastly, I actually really liked the production itself. There was so much happening, but the transitions were creative and the movement felt really tight. It should have felt chaotic, but somehow it mostly worked. I could see the intention behind the staging, and I really enjoyed watching all those moving parts come together.

A day in the life of an actor… (one day🤞🏾)

My last day at @mnacademylondon was spent shooting my first official showreel, I’m so grateful to have come this far.

With Colin’s direction, I know the final scene will be 👌🏾

Honouring the process while manifesting the destination🥹🙏🏾

2 months in 60 seconds

I completed term 2 of @mnacademylondon 🥳🥳

Doing these weekly scripts while prepping for a 1 woman show was no easy feat. Nevertheless, I’m grateful for the opportunity to keep pushing myself in this way.

I’m lowkey recovering from burnout and I can’t say what’s next but I am excited and promise to do better at vlogging this journey 🫣🤭

I have a whole backlog of things to catch y’all up on but hold this for now 🙏🏾

WE’RE BACK! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

After an incredible response to our last run, ‘Love vs Fear (…and My Mother’s Prayers)’ is returning to the stage for Lambeth Fringe on 30th September and 1st October!

An interactive one-woman show where dating becomes a game, and the audience gets to play. 👀

Love. Fear. Family. Faith. Dating. Expectations. And one mother whose prayers are VERY involved. 😂

This isn’t a show where you simply sit and watch. You’ll get to play along with Kike’s journey, spot the red flags and see what choices you might make if you were in her shoes.

❤️ Choose love?
🚩 Spot the red flags?
😰 Face the fear?

And judging by our last audience, you might leave thinking about some of your own choices too…

Now we’re bringing the game back to @lambethfringe. 🎭

🎟️ Tickets are on sale now!

Bring your friends. Bring your opinions. And be ready to play.

LOVE or FEAR — what are you choosing? 🎮💗

Some stories entertain you.
Some stories stay with you. ❤️

From the lights coming up to the final applause, Love Versus Fear: And My Mother’s Prayers was more than a play — it was a journey through love, fear, family, and the choices we make when the two collide.

Here’s a little glimpse into the magic we created on stage. 🎭✨

Thank you to everyone who showed up, laughed, felt, cried, and shared this experience with us.

Love or fear… which one would you choose?

Opening night. We did it.

And honestly? The room last night was everything we hoped it would be and then some.

The games had everyone locked in from the very first minute. The kind of energy that makes you realise this isn’t just a play, it’s a full experience and the audience showed up ready to be part of it.

And then Damilola walked onto that stage. Styled by @ojah.uk

The laughs. The silences. The moments where you could feel the whole room holding its breath together because something hit just a little too close to home. That’s what live theatre is supposed to feel like and that is exactly what happened last night.

The Q&A after was something special too. Real conversations. Real questions. People who came as strangers leaving feeling like they’d shared something important together.

This is what Love Versus Fear: And My Mother’s Prayers does. It doesn’t just entertain, it connects.

And there are still shows left. If last night looked like your kind of evening come and be part of it.

📍 SPID Theatre, Kensal House, Ladbroke Grove, London
🗓️ August 14th — 16th | Multiple show times remaining
🎟️ Tickets in bio — don’t miss out 💗
