POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

More than a year ago, we began our journey of restoration in Alojipan, one of the many upland communities in the Central Panay Mountains Key Biodiversity Area ⛰️ in our hometown in Culasi—not just of landscapes, but of relationships, knowledge, and agency.

Together with the locals, we built a space where agroecology and conservation intertwine, where traditional practices 🌀 dismissed as outdated are reclaimed, and where labor is an act of care rather than survival.

Last October, we carried these stories to wider platforms at the 7th @globallandscapesforum Investment Case during the 2024 United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity Conference of the Parties (CBD COP16) in 🇨🇴 Cali, Colombia.

For us, restoration is more than just planting trees and ensuring ecosystems are rehabilitated; it is about restoring agency to those who have long been excluded from decisions about their land and livelihoods. In Alojipan, conservation cannot be separated from economic realities—where systemic inequality forces people into extractive labor and where industrial agriculture erases traditional ways of knowing.

We insist that farming, foraging, and forest stewardship can be stable, dignified livelihoods 🥗 that sustain both people and biodiversity. Agroecology is one of our foundations, transforming food production into an act of ecological restoration.

In our shared meals and planting days, in co-creating a nursery for native trees and vegetables, we reclaim the commons, not as an abstraction, but as a living relationship between people and place.

This is a slow and mindful work built on trust, deep study, and the belief that a different future is possible—one where nourishment, both physical and spiritual, is not a privilege but a right ✊.

Sincerest gratitude goes to our partners: @globallandscapesforum, @theiris_project and @farmlab.ekopraxis; the community members in Alojipan and the restoration core team: @yo.tonio, @shangblas, @jorjamorr; the many volunteers of @dulungan.youth who became part of this story; and to @stance_mitchell and @megpad2x for lending us a hand in visualizing the work through this video.

Duro-duro gid nga salamat kag padayon 🌱

📍 Culasi, Antique: OUR UNTAMED HOME 🍃

Kinship extends beyond human connections — a shared existence. From the flight of birds to the footprints of wild reptiles, our daily lives are interwoven with the untamed beauty that surrounds us.

We find a relationship that transcends beyond language, forging a deep bond between the people and the diverse beings that shares this rich landscape.

Through these snapshots from @mitchellartworks , we capture moments that celebrate this coexistence ✨🌀

We have 8 rooms where you can enjoy the rainforest with privacy :)
The station is beautiful and cheap. Lots cheaper than other research stations around the world.

I admire arts and film but I never really engage myself into it. Im good being a bystander and appreciate things from afar. But when we were shooting on mama's Travel agency's content I dont have a choice but think and direct some shots. I even model on some of it.haha. So while waiting for @mitchellartworks to finish the outcome I tried to edit few clips myself.lol. I need more practice, yes, but Im quite proud of this one.hahaha. Thank you Stance for some advice on editing and cant wait for the video!! 🌴✨
