I don’t often write up a whole long caption. However the last few weeks have been nothing short of novel worthy. So I’m going to try and shorten that down over here. Read along if interested :)

It’s gotten to the point that whenever I get a message at night I always end up wondering it if it’s going to be something along the lines of “west coast tomorrow, you in?”. Dropping everything and everyone last minute to escape to the dreamland only a few hours away.

Having traversed (and scored) this coastline a bit more than a few times now I think I have finally thought of one word fitting enough for this pure oasis of stoke. I’d say that it is sacred. In every way shape and form.

The thrill that pulses through your body as you hear the low rumble of the waves travel up the cold, shrubby, twisting sand paths is what shifts your heart into the next gear.

It’s as if you are entering somewhat of a temple. You need to let go of everything at home and let your mind take in the tranquility of the west.

Stay in the moment. No shifts, no deadlines, nothing weighing on your mind… well nothing other than where you’re going to score next after another beer.

Your body is wrecked, sunburnt, and dehydrated from getting barrelled, blasted or flung into the sky before your mates even wake up from the jol. That’s what life is about.

Some memorable moments include: My heaviest session yet, dropping a pan of eggs on the ground, getting swarmed by flies, new nicknames, new spots that I hadn’t surfed before and fishing line as a leash string at tand. But most importantly.

My perception of fear and pushing out of my comfort zone has been completely warped. Complete mindset shift on what is actually possible to achieve when you are confident and set your mind to something.
