Athletes surf. Coaches prepare. Safety teams protect. Camera and production crews capture an unpredictable ocean. Broadcasters connect it all in real time, helping audiences understand what happened, why it mattered, and who made it possible.

Through Cloudbreak 2026, VORTEX observed Kaipo Guerrero report from the water across 135 heats and Strider Wasilewski across 112. Joe Turpel called 185 heats while also narrating eight event trailers, the season trailer, and six award ceremonies.

Jesse Starling’s record shows the versatility behind the broadcast: 77 post-heat assignments, 70 booth-analysis heats, 41 play-by-play heats, 38 shows and special-coverage segments, and 33 field-reporting assignments.

The season is also shaped by enduring partnerships. Joe Turpel and Felicity Palmateer shared the booth for 91 heats. Ronnie Blakey and Richie Lovett worked 88 together.

Beyond the booth, Vaughn Blakey recorded 252 documented interactions involving 90 people. Chris Cote recorded 67 involving 35.

VORTEX created 17 evidence-based broadcaster profiles to recognize this work and help make the human architecture of professional surfing more visible.

10 anos depois de ir para os Estados Unidos estudar inglês durante 3 meses, eu voltei para trabalhar no mesmo lugar.

Passou um filme na cabeça muito doido. Com 17 anos, a experiência foi diferente. Sem carteira de motorista, sendo menor de idade, sem conhecer ninguém, sem saber nada de nada, o aprendizado foi grande e me ajudou muito a ser quem eu sou hoje. Dessa vez, a experiência foi alto nível, digamos assim 😂
