Publications of the project -- Dropping In and Out, A Response to Uncertainty -- With unique prints as covers, produced in a participatory manner with MIZDRUK in Aarle-Rixtel, the Netherlands. Using an analogue printing process that transforms errors and variations into 75 unique covers.
This publication brings together authors from diverse backgrounds, disciplines, and generations to reflect on how historical and geographical contexts have shaped the artistic legacies of women and nonbinary people. The interdisciplinary project Dropping In and Out reflects on artistic visibility and disappearance in times of uncertainty. It explores how artists—especially women and nonbinary voices—navigate instability, failure, and renewal within shifting social and material conditions.

Wat een práchtig zootje, wederom helemaal niks mis mee! Mizdruk en Caketype hebben hun specialiteiten samen weten te persen in deze explosie van kleur en typografie. Een ware puzzel om te kraken voor een mooie zondagochtend, we hebben immers niemand horen zeggen dat dit een makkelijk affiche zou worden. Dus letterlijk geen daden maar woorden en vice versa. Het gaat net als op papier aankomen op de karakters, uitgedrukt op het veld én op de tribunes!

Kom dus na het ontbijt naar FC Eindhoven tegen Heracles, spoel de zachtgekookte eitjes weg met een heerlijk brouwsel en schreeuw ze naar die ó zo felbegeerde drie punten!

HET BEWIJS DAT JE GELOPEN HEBT!
Als je de camino wandelend of fietsend gaat afleggen krijg je een pelgrimspaspoort, met dit document verzamel je het bewijs van je voettocht door per etappe stempels te vergaren.
Deze stempels gaan een tweede laag worden in mijn tekening.
Ik snij zelf een heleboel stempels voornamelijk over de legendes van Sint Jacobus maar heb bij Bart Heesen @karakterprints een serie officieel lijkende stempels laten maken die je tijdens de route ontvangt.
Door de originele tekening te kopiëren bij mijn steun en toeverlaat in vele projecten Jan-Willem van der Looij @mizdruk kunnen we de gehele tekening perfect verkeerd/miz kopiëren, hier en daar een kleine retouche.
De onbevlekte tekening blijft bewaard en dat is altijd fijn voor…..
En op de kopie kunnen de bezoekers als bewijs van het zien van de gehele tekening bij mij een stempel op de tekening zetten.
Zo staat straks alles zwart op wit.
Vanaf a.s. vrijdag hangt de tekening (weer) in het Krona.
Ik ben er elke vrijdag kom langs en DRUK JE STEMPEL OP DE TEKENING!

I share the opening of the international collage exhibition Retroavangarda, in Warsaw, and the launch of the book-catalog, curated by Anna Kłos.
It is an honor to be part of an exhibition of such relevance, alongside artists from different parts of the world, in a country marked by the tradition of the Polish School of Graphic Design, a reference in the visual arts.
I present three works that move between collage and letterpress, including a collaboration with calligrapher Claudio Gil @claudiogil_lagrafia and the series “Homage to Mizdruk” @mizdruk based on correspondence, memories, and graphic experiments.
I thank the curators, the organizers, and everyone involved for this inspiring meeting between artists, languages, and cultures.

Homage to Mizdruk

An exploration of memory, correspondence, and printmaking, this work was inspired by the postcards I received from artist and printer @mizdruk over the years.

The piece began with a layer of letterpress impressions made from printing plates in my collection. Fragments of Mizdruk’s postcards and selected prints were then assembled through collage, creating a dialogue between our printed exchanges. The resulting composition was photographed and reinterpreted as a fine art print, before returning to the press for a final series of letterpress interventions that introduced texture, depth, and tactile presence.

A tribute to the enduring power of printed matter and to the creative conversations that can unfold across distance, one piece of mail at a time.
